Hi guys.

I can't be the only one who find the score posted here WAY out of my league. I've been playing Civ since Civ1 and I consider myself quite knowledgable about the game history, the game concepts and the path you must take in order to get a good, winning score.

However, I just got my first non-time win in Warlords (just a standard epic game) with a space race win. This also secured me my best Warlords score so far at about 4400.......feel free to laugh now.

Then I look at the October GOTM scores and see Zone's score of 13000 !!!!
I know you guys play a lot and I envy you your insight in the game...but seriously...Why are you SOOOO much better ?
Is it all down to extreme micro management?
Is there an evil building that I've misunderstood?
Did I miss a patch that doubles scores?

Sorry, this might be more of a general question and the admin should feel free to move it, but it does concern the GOTM score

Thanks,

Strangelove

13,000 wasnt bad, but didnt come close to my score for October

It depends on the level you are playing at and how early you win the game, amongst other things.

Hey, Strangelove, there are others of us out there on the same level as you, too!

Some of these guys, rock!  Zone has been particularly insightful and micro-managing over at the Civilized DGame.  A couple others, too.  That accounts for some of it, but there is a lot that goes into calculating score.

I do like to micromanage, but I find the one biggest score decider is how early you win the game. It's amazing the difference 50 - 100 years makes.

Actually, the only difference 50-100 years makes is 50-100 points.

Perhaps you meant 50-100 turns?  I'll agree then.
