Namely a shot of the emblem pictured on the loading screen. Right after you make your final preferance choices, a screen comes up with a woman in white, holding arrows and a staff. If the shot can be taken before the small "Building world" window appears that would be great. We need a civ related avatar for the 1bc Chess team, and I was thinking about manipulating that image for use there. But my CivII disc is PS1. Thanks.

Civ II

had so many great scenarios, that really should've been kept up with as the series progressed.

Civ2 Program

I finally found a copy of Civ2. It was so great, but actually when I tryed it a few days ago I missed alot of things that only is there in civ3. So I gues that I've moved on (to civ3 that is).I think that if I count the hours I've proberly played civ2 more then any other game.

Settler Cheat

Anyone remember the worker cheat in civ, get it to do a job then cancel the job then get it to do it again, you could build what ever you wanted in one turn (of course it was Settlers that did that work not workers)

The civ intro story!

Anyone remember that original story that civ1 would show when you started a new world? Complete with cheesy Midi music et al?It started as showing the swirling particles in space that would eventually become earth... I beleive the first line isIn the beginning...And it would go into about a 3 minute story accompanied by the music and a few graphic screens. It tells the creation of earth story and leads it all the way up to about 4k BC when the game first starts with the rise of man.I even remember all this was contained in a text file (at that time you'd use MS dos to edit it) which could be edited to change the story to something you may feel more appropriate (or just plain funny)

Call to Power

I was just wondering if anyone know when or if they are making another call to power ... I used it everytime, and won easily on Deity. Hurry to get Fundamentalism. Build the Statue of Liberty, and switch to Fundamentaism government.By this time I have temples in all my cities. Save up some cash, and build lots of diplomats. Buy other civ cities, and all new wonders. hurry to get spys, build tones of spys, and buy the rest of the cities on the map. Use your small millitary to defend newly bought cities, and take out the capitals. Leave one city remaining on the map, switch to Democracy, put the entertainment slider up to 100%Let all the cities grow and prospire, then once you have everything, take the last city. You win and have a huge score, due to 90% of your citizens being happy, taking over the world, and having a huge population.

Things from Civ1 to put into Civ3

Ah the good old days of Civ 1! :)It must've been over 10 years ago when I first played it! Doesn't time fly!Things that I liked that would be nice to see put into Civ3:

Each Civ had their own 'music' when you contacted them, or when a city was captured, rather than just the general music in civ3. It'd be good to bring all those tunes back but in better quality versions.
When you spoke to another leader, you could see his/her 'advisors' in the background - they were funny. I liked the very dodgy looking advisors from modern despostism/anarchy ;).
The startup story each time a new world was generated. 'A Civilization to stand the test of time'. Also reminds me of when you start a game on 'Colonization' (another good oldie).
Barbarians taking over cities, also more modern barbarians as 'guerillas' (also in Civ2). Would be cool to have 'non-aligned' cities that the barbarians control, rather than just the odd uprising.
Irrigating hills to get your irrigation to all those hard to reach places (also Civ2)
Anyone agree? Disagree?

Tales from the past: a few memories

It was somewhere at the end of the 80's when I first saw civilization on a computer of a friend of mine. He had one of those old greenish monitors so everything looked green. Of course that same friend was very jalous when I bought myself a brand new system: with a VGA color screen. A new dimension of civ opened our eyes.Together we must have played hundreds of hours of civ. We made two large pages on which we wrote the complete tech tree. That already took a while and we made strategic plans on how to get rid of our enemies. Life was pretty simple in those days. Now need to worry about culture or building a UN in order to achieve a diplomatic victory. Only two ways to win: space race and conquest! And we cheated like mad! Our phalanxes won against artillery after 10 times of reloading.I missed some classes because I was dreaming about conquering the Mongols with my impressive army. My girlfriend decided to date some one else because she wasn't getting much attention from me. I didn't go to bed before I beat those damn Russians. This is now know as the 'one more turn' syndrom. Those were the days.

Civ 2 Leo's VS. Civ 3 Leo's

A post in the CIV2 Board!!! Yippee!OK which do you think was betterIn civ 2 your units would automatically upgrade when the advancement was discovered, whereas in three the cost to upgrade units is halved.I think that Civ2's was much better, but that being said it did expire... maybe they decided it was too powerful. What are your thoughts on this?
