Sometimes after I login, I'll go to click a thread and it'll have me signed out and ask me to login again.

It PROBABLY has something to do with cookie management (as it usually is), but WHAT?

From the Beginning

So.. I tried to view ALL the topics in various areas and clicking on 'From the Beginning' was hinky.

One time it worked, but other times, it switched back to '3 days'. Other times, it told me there were no topics but there were. Can't tell you specifics, because I was toying with it all over.

Is there a prob with notification?

Permitted file upload extensions

I'd like to request (even if it doesn't do any good :P ) for the board to change its permitted file extensions when uploading to include "CivBeyondSwordSave" extensions. It looks like the regular Civ IV extension is permitted, but not the BTS one.

Yeah, yeah, we can do a work-around by .zipping the file and uploading it, but on a Civ site, it'd be nice to upload a BTS save.

My 2 cents. :)

Not so much a problem than an annoyance.

Seems I need to relog on to the boards every once in awhile for no reason.

I'll be reading a post, then I'll go to another post and the board tells me I need to login. Problem is I'm already logged in.

I have the board settings to remember (auto-login) me when I access; so I shouldn't have to login at all.

Just thought I would bring it to your attention.

attaching bts saves to posts

Hello Sean,

It would be convinient if we could attach BTS saves to our posts. Right now the only way to attach it is by zipping the file and attach the .zip. Please note the BTS saves have a different extension compared to general civ4 saves.:)

Posting pictures

I noticed that in the last few days we can no longer post our own photos to 1BC and instead must point towards external links. Is this permanent?

It is nice to post screen shots and of course, the occassional joke, but I don't believe anyone has gone hog-wild with posting photos, so I wonder why this was done.

Just curious. :)

A really annoying error

So I type in this huge post with a few quote tags and I get this message:

The following error occurred...

The board administrator has requested that you must provide some message content within your post. You cannot post only HTML, Images, EmotIcons or IFCode.

Then I take out all the quotes and I still get the message. Then I copy it, close out of IE and start it up again and I paste it back in the same reply box and I get the same freakin' message. Then I just type in "blah" and I still get the same message. Then I go to a different forum and I have no problems. When I go back to the problem reply page, I get the same message if I paste but if I type the whole message out, it lets it go through. What the ***? Anyone else have this problem. It's not the first time for me.

I received this SPAM mail that was sent to me through 1bc. I can see the sender's email adress, but I know of no way to connect that mail to a member's name.

What does this mean?

Attachment Problems

Recently I've noticed an occasional problem with the attachment mechanism. It has mainly come to light for me since I have to attach more files since working on the C3C GOTMS.

I find that I have to make numerous attempts before the file will attach successfully. This is even for "small" files (<200KB).

I have no problem uploading files to other sites, or using FTP, it just seems to be here.

Are there any problems? Anyone else noticed this?

Why is it that sometimes when I click "quote" the quote shows up in my post nicely in white and other times it just has the quote tags visible, but nothing to distinnguish it as a quote? I've noticed it's not just me, others have this as well.

Spellcheck Problems?

Sometimes when I use the spell check I'll get errors where when I substitue a uncorrectly spelled word with its correct form, I end up with the spell check completely merging words and etc.

While very minor its made me have to edit a few of my posts. I just thought I would bring this up.

Greenwich Mean Time

Hey Sean,

This weekend we (Sydney) has just changed our time zone back 1 hour due to end of daylight savings (we're going into Autumn/Winter).

I've noticed that the GMT calculations appear off. We are now on GMT+10, but I have had to set my settings to GMT+9 for everything to work.

Then I thought I'd check what happened if I set to London Time (GMT). That seemed to work correctly when I tried. Note that London is actually now in BST (GMT+1) due to daylight savings changes.

I am not sure if the daylight savings check is working as expected. I also noted you have to update the forum settings page twice to get the correct timezone and "Time now" for what you have set.

Without further investigation I'm not sure if there is a consistent issue, but just something I thought I'd raise. For now I've fiddled with the settings until I show the correct time, even if it says I'm in Japan's time zone! ;)

Searches and RSS

whenever I search on the new boards I get back several pages of RSS junk that I need to search through to find the post I am looking for. Is there a way around this or are we just stuck with this RSS garbage?

Perhaps RSS could be manually deleted or added to searches?

I have 4 id's. I am mcduke, mc_mcduke, mc_mcduke2, mc_mcduke3. Is is possible some super powerful site moderating master could group all of my id's (and my posts) into one person: mcduke?

The two reasons I have 4 id's is 1) I am [was?] an iditot and forgot that I put"mc_" at the begining... 2) there was a problem way back where you couldn't log on for like 6 hours after you'd logged out, and I tried to log on twice, hence mc_mcduke2 & 3.

The idea I have, and this is probably just very vain, is that between these 3 id's I have made 76 posts and have 178 acknowledged visits to the site (and that many more where I was not logged in), SO! if they were all united in one id I might be closer to moving up to the next rank of warlord and veteran warlord! That would ROCK!

Just something I've noticed today using the boards, thought I'd bring it to your attention...

There are occasional pages of posts that will not display. I have found that usually they will go straight to the good old "The Page Cannot Be Found" page.

However, sometimes I can see the page for a split second, before it disappears. In this case a large amount of gibberish appears in one of the posts.

Two examples:

Could there be a member with a 'funny' value in their signature that is screwing with the page HTML?
