A spiritual and expansive people, we start with Mysticism and Fishing. How splendid!!!

goals for this session: 1.) Found Capital City.

2.) Explore, explore, explore.

3). Discover Polytheism, Adopt Hindu Faith.

In the Beginning

1) 4000BC- Opting to settle on starting location, Utopia has been founded. Ritual delvings into Polytheism begun (18 turns). Training of warrior unit initiated.

2) 3970 BC- Exploration

3) 3940 BC- Exploration

4) 3910 BC- Exploration

5) 3880 BC- Exploration

6) 3850 BC- Exploration

7) 3820 BC- Exploration

8) 3790 BC- Exploration

9) 3760 BC- Utopia consolidates her territory with a cultural expanson! Celebrate! Our warrior discoveres shiny gems in the Northern Hills.

10) 3730 BC- Exploration

11) 3700 BC- Exploration

12) 3670 BC- Exploration

13) 3640 BC- Exploration

14) 3610 BC- Exploration

15) 3580 BC- Exploration

16) 3550 BC- Exploration

17) 3520 BC- A den of lions approaches our warrior explorers. The have higher ground, our warriors run the other way! :w00t:

18) 3490 BC- Brave Warriors encounter same lions, this time the good guys have the higher ground! Time passes, Much Boredom, nothing to do, Utopians make many babies. The Village of Utopia grows to Size 2.

Scientific spending reduced to by 80 percent. We need a treasury.

19) 3460 AD- Our shamen wisemen have developed their own Polytheistic Creed and have called it Hinduism. This is cause for a great celebration! We are now the Hindu People!!! :)

Meanwhile off yonder, the stupid ***'d lions, not realizing that our warriors have the higher ground attack anyways. They do manage to inflict much damage, many brave souls perrished that day, but our boys emerged victorious, those who survived are better off for their experience, what does not kill shall only make stronger. But for now they must rest and recover.

We have cattle roaming about, we must harness these beasts so that are people are well fed. What is that you say, Hindus don't eat cows they worship them? What silly non-sense! We would be taken as fools, and almost surely not survive as a nation if we were to take advantage of our surroundings. And let us not kid ourselves. We do not worship animals. We worship the immortal gods! Come now.

Research has begun on how to make the most out of the fields, call it Agriculture (12 turns) so that we may be better able to tend to the crops and the cattle.

20) 3430 BC- Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

goals for this session: 1.) Found Capital City.

2.) Explore, explore, explore.

3). Discover Polytheism, Adopt Hindu Faith.

1) Done.
2) Check. Check!
3) You betcha!!!

And we even have our first trained warrior unit due up in....by the looks of it another 30 years. My how time flies. Are we alone in this world? Is one man indeed an island? Only the gods know. We have ultimate faith that they will guide us down the proper path. Let them show us the way.

Play on brotha, play on!

Timed out?

Ok, my friend and i tried to play each other and suddenly we could not play games with each other saying that the host was "TRimed Out." I don't even mind if we lose, as long as it doesn't drag on forever.

But winning would be better.

*number of turns to be on a sliding scale decreasing with game complexity

Informal BTS 3.13 (Bhruics) Feb GOTM

Since I've finished a couple 'practice' Prince level games now (both the Sumeria Dynasty with Leo, and the BOTM 1 at Civ Fanatics [got a cultural victory in 1975, but actually reloaded once so won't submit my score of ~14K]) I wanted to try an SP as my favorite Civ and favorite map: Alexander, Terra, Large, High Sea, Temperate, No Tech Trading (a double-edged sword), Epic speed, Permanent Alliances enabled, all victories enabled except Time. In honesty, I was in no hurry to ramp up in difficulty too fast. I like to milk Civ for as much replayability as possible. I've finally got to the point where Noble Difficulty games have become tedious because winning seems to pretty much always be a foregone conclusion. However, I've started and failed to finish several Prince games so far, and feel it is finally time to try to make that step up.
I read guide to "Getting Your First Win on Prince" and have tried implementing it playing the Sumerians. It was quite helpful, and I did do well up to about 400 AD, but started to get into trouble with overexpansion I think. Anyway, I've had enough trial runs that I feel I'm now in range to actually win. I thought it might be more fun if 2 or 3 of us had this "First Win on Prince" experience as a Dynasty team?

Never played a Dynasty game, so not fully clear on how it works. My impression is that one guy starts it, plays 25 turns, and posts reports of what happens during those turns, then posts the saves and the next guy plays 25, and this proceeds in round fashion?

My Build:

Civilization IV "Beyond the Sword"

 Civ Version: 313

 Save Version: 301

 Build Version: 3.0.0.1 (81539)

Build Date: Fri Sep 21 2007

 Build: FINAL RELEASE

 Mod Name: NONE

My suggestions:

1. Obviously we need at least two, but preferably three players. I think three is a good limit.

2. I would prefer if NONE of us have as yet won a random Ancient Start, "Epic" game in BTS on Prince Difficulty Level, exceptions for things like past Prince wins with mods or scenarios perhaps excepted . . .

3. 25 turns, pace of progress need not be blazing, but lets not just disappear off the face of the planet . . .

4. We play Gilgamesh, Sumeria, Prince Difficulty

5. Our opponents . . . I initially thought 6 AI all random, but then rethought that. It rubs my realist's fur the wrong way when Roosevelt is going toe-to-toe with a leader from the ancient world . . . so instead I picked out the six that are as close to being truly ANCIENT civ leaders

Hammurabi (our nemesis)

Asoka (neighbor?)

Ramesees II

Shaka (hopefully a far away tribe :w00t:)

Mansa Musa

Qin Shi Huang

6. It's probably something that can be solved by yelling at someone but at the moment, I just don't have time. If it starts affecting my work the I'll likely need to do it anyway though so we'll see. It's not a Dgame but similar only in the aspect that more than one person is involved in a single player game. The difference is that it's based on land ownership and a king who has nearly absolute power... that is until he gets overthrown. All players are princes who are jockeying for power to gain the most power points. There are various ways of gaining power points such as gaining more provinces (tiles), through peaceful and agressive means, being the monarch for as long as you can, controlling city tiles and various other means. The person who has the most points at the end of the game wins (Yes there is a winner at the end). There is also the opportunity to become an archbishop if one is interested in moderating the game. While they are still active players and potentially the most powerful, they are not participating in the land ownership aspect. They're sort of the chief justice of the game.

As I said, this is not a Dgame and is not meant to be a substitute for one. Perhaps not everyone is suited for this game if they take things personal. If you do sign up, keep in mind that you will likely be stabbed and may also be a stabber but you should not take anything personal. If you are the kind of person that does, you may want to reconsider playing ;). It's also a game which will require a small degree of commitment, though probably not more than an hour over the course of a week. If you are interested, a sign up thread has been started here.

Anyhoo, join up if you dare :)

Online Games List

Hi all,

Just wondering whether anyone has had the same problem as me. This was partially rejected due to people having to figure out a common time to play. I've decided to evolve this idea into a new one. Why not arrange a little ladder or tournament system for players here at 1BC. This way we can have a little ranking system just for fun.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Games here would not need to be played online. They could be pitboss, pbem, standard online, etc... Players would report wins/losses and a little ladder system would form. Montly tournaments could also be held, where players could win cups/banners/etc. I think this little ladder-like system would add a little fun to this board and add a little twist, brining in another form of 'community-like competiton' instead of just having th monthly GOTM.

What do you guys think? You think this would work?
I know there are already much larger ladder systems out there for cIV, but this one would be just an extra little 'fun' touch to the community of 1BC. :hehe:

Civ 4 Friendly Game

If anyone cares to play a friendly game of civ 4 and can stay up to finish the game... here is my contact info!
MSN willmontgomery30@hotmail.com
AIM PrKnnx

I have been wanting to play with someone online for a long time now!

Can't connect even though I've tried EVERYTHING

I just missed my Civ 4 date tonight with my three friends. Enough with PBEMs! Why not have a good old fun game of cIV online with a bunch of other 1bcians and why not make this like a monthly thing, similar to the GOTM.

Every month there would be another OGOTM. A winner would be declared, and just like in GOTM, he/she would have braging rights for the month. People sometimes need to leave games and can not stick out the whole online game. For this reason we would play that if you leave, your out/lose. To help shorten games, we would play smaller maps, such as small and standard (depending on the number of players) with simultaneous turns and probably a flazing or fast time turner and maybe a quick or normal game speed. Game Barbarians would be turned off because of their sometimes unfair placement, same with the "Goody Huts". All other game options (such as tech trading) and victory conditions will be decided befroe every match.

So what do you guys think of this? Anyone game? :w00t:

Oh, just an extra thought! Sometimes we could add the excitement of team games, such as a 2v2v2 or 3v3!!! :hehe:

Dynasty Game

Could I interest anybody in playing a Dynasty Game with me? The game will be simultaneous turns with a 24 hour turn timer. Note that this is vanilla Civ and not Warlords.

I have set-up a simple website/forums to organise everything, if you want to take part then you can register for the game at the following url:

http://civ4.game-host.org/forum

When you register on the forums please select a civilizaiton/leader, but check the player list first to make sure you don't pick a civilization thats already been taken.

Once your in have a look in the forums, check the rules out, say hello, etc, and if you have any questions then feel free to make your own thread or message me through the forums.

I will be looking to start the game asap.

There are currently 3-4 slots remaining.

Civ IV MP game with a newbie

Hi,

I am not new to Civ (IV), but am new to MP gaming. It's still college vacation and I was hoping to finally find someone with a lot of free time on their hands wanting to play a long civilization IV multiplayer game with me. I just want to find one or two people who can play almost everyday for at least several hours per day over the course of the next two or three weeks.

I can play virtually anytime but would prefer between the hours of 8AM-3AM Eastern Standard time. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I'm a mature player and I'm friendly and experienced with nearly all of the prior Civilization games. I don't consider myself a pro, but I'm not a beginner either. Ideally, I'd like to forge a strong alliance with whoever I play with and dominate the world with full AI opponents (normal difficulty). I'd like this player-to-player alliance to last at least until nearly all of the computer AI civilizations have been destroyed. I'll share maps, resources, technologies, and occasionally gold.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you or anyone you know might be interested in a friendly, long-term, continuous, private multiplayer game.

Thank you very much, ~SirDeity

Player needed for Warlords Pitboss Game

We just started a Warlords Pitboss game. Currently we are in the initial stages of organising an Intersite Democracy Game for Civilization IV, and have been extending invitations to various sites around the civ world to join in the fun! :) So far the response has been very positive, with 8 sites already having confirmed participation, and 4 others expected to respond soon. However, we're always on the lookout for more interested and talented individuals and/or teams to welcome to the game!

As such, we extend an invitation out to the entire community of 1BC, to - if you so wish - participate in and be involved with this exciting upcoming game! If you are interested in gathering together a team for this purpose, your site be most warmly welcomed to the ISDG community! :) Of course, if you would prefer to just join up as individuals amongst the other teams, that's fine too. (Though we would love to see another whole site involved, if there's the requisite interest!)

For all those wanting to know more, the "official" forums can currently be found here:
http://evo-games.net/Home/viewforum.php?f=241

Thank you for your time. I hope to at least have stirred your interest with this post! Any questions, please feel free to ask them either here in this thread or over at the EVG forums. ;)

- emperor

Chat does not work in Trade (Diplomacy) Screen

When in multiplayer mode, Direct IP connection, one party in a 3 party game cannot use CHAT in the diplomacy screen. Well It's always a problem with these kind of things here. There isn't a great market for games like cIV here in Israel. I usually order from Amzon.uk

However they stopped shiping softwhear to Israel. NON of the Israely sits have cIV in there stores, and no big computer stores around. Since, shipping from the US is soo rediculsly expensive (30$!) I asked my dad to get it when he flies to the US for a bussines meeting or somthing. He left a few hours ago. I am afraid of one thing. Lags.

I did the same with World Of Warcraft, since it cost 150$ here and only 50$ in the US. I later regreted that because my lag would climb to 2000-4000 ms, 500 on a good day.

So im really worried it will happen again, I want to ask how bad are the lag issues in cIV (considiring that WoW has over 3000 thousand users on every server, it shouldnt be THAT high...)

Also, with how many latency are most people willing to play with?

Thx in advance, and i still could tell my dad to forget about buying it, and hope that itll get here soon...
