Ok... I've set it so that all have access right now.... The permission settings on this forum can be convoluted, at best.

I have moderator rights for the forum (as far as I can see) but am unable to post replies or make new threads... there's probably something that wasn't clicked or checked when the Warmax group was created. Then again, I could smell a blasted conspiracy on the part of our President!! Oh well, we'll let him sleep for now and remember to petition him tommorow. :hehe:

EDIT: Yeah, it's definitely something up with the Permission settings. I'm able to bring up the post creation menu in all the other DGame forums.

BTW, I agree too Biz, I was just saying why not use the Town Square until such a forum is created. It would be in the admins best interest to set that up ASAP otherwise it would mean more work for him in moving threads over to the new role playing forum. Doesn't matter now as it's been created. ;)

Ok... I have moved things around slightly.

The Completed Polls and The Voting Booth are now a subforum to the Town Square.

The Role Playing forum is ready to go, as is the Senate Floor and Executive Reports.

The Senate Floor should be set up at this point so that only Elected officials can post... if one of you would like to post a test in there or something to make sure it's set right, that would be fine.

I haven't added any deputies yet. Someone needs to start a post that will be updated with the Senators/deputies with each term (I'll do the same in ExRep).

I have to go to work in 4 hours, so perhaps I should sleep a bit... I'll tackle whatever else needs to be done tomorrow night.

Yep - I agree with Biz - some separation between role playing and game-related threads would be good.

Also, it raises the old chestnut of post counts (groan) :P Would role-playing be considered spamming? There could definitely be some potential for some silly threads out there... :D What do you guys think? Should we turn post counts off for Role Playing, but leave them on for important D-Game business?

I see the Town Square as the center place for general discussion, which was much like the "open forum" in the old Democracy Game forums. The problem with allowing active role-play to accumulate in this forum would be the amount of "clutter" that would come from it. Normal Role-playing forums for DGames will gather thousands of threads... and so would a general forum. Thus, I really preffer not to be bothered going through pages of somebody's story about the local pub or random newspapers... to just find my one thread concerning my opinions on the current amount of Community worker units.

Keeping them seperate, is the way to go, imo.

I wonder if the town square was intended to be like the public meeting hall type of place where plebiscites and such would be held, or if it is a general purpose? I would tend to think that it is a general purpose, so it may be the best place to have role playing threads?

I'm looking at the Dgame probably being in it's own forum category (i.e. Civ IV Discussion, CivIII Discussion). In which case, we would have plenty of room to do whatever we need to.

I'd like to see HD's sports section brought over to this side of the DGame realm. The DGame's are gonna need room for people to contribute to the game, while not actually contributing to the gameplay itself... for example, smalls newspapers, sports leauge, role-playing... everything you've proposed fits in the mind, but I'd like to see a "Daily Life" section devoted to this side of the game. But yeah, these are fairly simplistic despite the first impression.

Now that it seems we'll be setting up this DGame in the forseeable future, I figured I'd start the talk on what the board structure should look like. My personal preference is to start small and keep stuff centred at first, then expand on it as and when needed. As such, I suggest the following boards be created:

[b]The Public Gallery[/b]
Actual posting should be limited to the Presidency and the Senate, but everyone can watch. Used for all regular Senate business.

[b]The Forum[/b]
Open discussion area for all citizens.

[b]The Voting Booth[/b]
Reserved forum for hosting polls during elections, plebiscites, etc.

[b]The Halls of Justice[/b]
Specific forum for the Supreme Court, though open to all. Among other functions, this allows citizens to address the SC and Senators to submit Law proposals for checking against the Constitution.

Additionaly, both the Senate/Presidency and the Supreme Court could use private boards for their cloak-and-dagger antics.

Thoughts?
