ah.. yes.. my apologies. I've been up to my eyeballs at work.

Finally. Official congratulations are in order for Zone, the September CivIV Warlords GOTM Champion.

An October game is being formulated. It will probably be a vanilla CivIV save.

Heh, I DID end up playing this by the way.

Didn't bother submitting it...because I lost my capital to barbarians and that pretty much ended it. I could not stem the swarming hordes coming from the south. Axemen against my archers.

Use scouts wherever possible on huts. I also got my first ever 'hostile villagers' in either a cIV or Warlords game this time, but it was late on using a cavalry unit ;)

I got about 3 or 4 free technologies, a free scout, free warrior and a few hundred gold. It was a good game for goody huts :) I managed to lose about 3 Great generals... still had a couple at the end though.

You can get workers and settlers from goody huts? I've never seen that. Damn that was lucky. :)

Still playing my game, I'm on course for a win, maybe on course for a domination win, but doubt I will beat that score.

Pity I'm so defensive cause I could have won this game some time earlier. I got lucky at the start popping a worker and a settler with my first two goody huts.

I don't have warlords either, is it worth getting? Conquests was a great improvement to Civ3, but I havent heard the same for Warlords.

I'm assuming you mean GOTM. When I asked last month if we needed to do both, there didn't seem to be any support for having a vanilla game. So, probably not this month. If you want one for next month, I'm sure I can be persuaded to do both. :D Whatcha gonna give me?

How do I unzip the start file and how do I later zip the save file to post here? I just got a new motherboard on my pc so dont have winzip atm. Do you have a reliable site to download it from?

I'm no warmonger so this score will no doubt be crushed but what the heck.

My Tips:

-Beeline to Mathematics and Masonary for the Hattusas which will solve most of your happiness and health problems.
-Janissaries are very versatile if short lived so use them while you can. A stack of Janissaries and Trebuchets with maybe a few knights will overcome any obstacle
-Vassal States are great for a domination victory since the land and population of your vassals counts towards your own. In my game I didn't wipe out a single civ.

This game is for CivIV Warlords expansion!

Civ: Ottomans (Exp, Org) with 6 Aggressive rivals

Difficulty: Warlord

Settings:

Permanent Alliances Allowed - Modified Assets Locked

Start Position:

Special Victory Conditions

All Victory Conditions have been allowed, but only 2 will be accepted: [red]Conquest[/red] and [red]Domination[/red]

Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Especially since all of your rival civs have the Aggressive trait. :P

Highest Normalized Score in either of the two approved conditions will be declared GOTM champion.

When you complete the game, [red]take a screenshot of the Victory screen[/red] where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then [red]PM your final save [/red](hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]Sept06GOTM.CivWarlordsSave (in a zip file)

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Note: The Forum software doesn't allow file extensions of the length of the Civ4 Warlords save file. For this reason, the start save is in a zip file and your submissions will need to be as well. If you are not sure how to accomplish this or how to unzip the start save, please post here and someone will help you. :)
