The President must deliver a full and comprehensive report before the People and the Senate after every period of ten turns, or when he reaches a point where a decision of the People, the Senate, or the Supreme Court is required to continue play, whichever may come first.

4a. In addition, the President must request the Senate's authorization to continue play. In this request, he will include a brief summary of his plans regarding foreign affairs, city production, and unit orders for those 10 turns.

5. The President must present a request to the Senate, and have it approved by simple majority of the Senate, if he wishes to:

- Found a new settlement.

- Disband an existing settlement.

- Adjust Civics.

- Engage in treaties with a foreign power.

- Engage in acts of war with a foreign power.

- Construct a Wonder.

- Use up a Great Person.

- Continue play every 10 turns
...
Reason: This will allow for the Senate to have more say in the way the game is played. The president's brief summary will allow for some discussion amongst the senate, and also allow the senate to guide the president where decisions need to be made.

This should also make the game slightly less of a spectator sport...

This poll will run for 72 hours from the time of this post.

This amendment will only pass with a 2/3 majority of the votes cast in favour.

This topic was discussed in the following thread:

http://www.1bcciv.com/Topic2237743-93-1.aspx
Referendum: Constitution Amendment: Senate Majority

Voting Now Closed.
This motion has PASSED.

For: 11
Against: 0
Abstain: 0
Proposed Amendment to Constitution:
ARTICLE III: THE SENATE
...
5. It has been open for > 96 hours

The outcome is in favor of the proposed amendment.

There were a total of 15 ballots cast. 15 divided by 3 = (5 * 2) = 10. 10 is just barely a 2/3rds majority of the 15 ballots cast.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

As Princep one of my jobs is to help organize plebiscites, and help to carry out elections on proposed alterations to the Articles of the Constitution, presented to the people by the Supreme Court.

In this instance, our President, Mongoose, has proposed the following amendment

Article VI: Section 2. The first Senate shall have a term of 25 turns.

Shall be altered to read:

Article VI: Section 2. The first Senate shall have a term of 75 turns.

Reasoning: The Senate term was shortened for the first term to add the dynamic of the Presidential and Senatorial term being staggered. The premise being that the possible change in Legislature mid-Presidential term could add new facets to game play.

While I still think this reasoning holds true, I can't help but think that the stop the game really before it gets going 25 turns-in to elect a new Senate would be burdensome, indeed. Therefore, I propose a change to an initial Senatorial term of 75 turns, which would put it into the Second Presidential term.
We'll run this poll for at least 48 hours (72 if response seems slow) or until we get a 2/3 majority one way or the other.
Correct me if I'm wrong Mr. President, but by my count, the 1BC DGame Citizenship List currently contains 25 names. One-third of 25 is 8.333 * 2 = 16.67.
The amendment will fail if less than 17 citizens vote YES.
The amendment will pass if 17 or more citizens vote YES

Names for the Senate positions

In order for candidates to begin campaigns for the Senate they will need to announce which individual seat they are campaigning for.
