It's up for discussion and view to hammer out the kinks if there are any. In regards to the Vice President, however, I've drawn blanks as far as what I could propose to give the position more appeal.
The "Tie-Breaking Votes Draft" is also in my signature for quick access.

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

I'm willing to dish out some drafts dealing with the subject at hand. However, aside from 1BC and classes this past week, I should be considered dead here until I get at least one game of civ under my belt tonight. If somebody wants to beat me to the punch in drafting some of these, now would be the time to do so.

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

Anyone want to write up a draft? ;)

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

I'm in agreement in thinking the Princep should be the person who receives the tie-breaking vote. It would seem to be logical as it's balanced by the fact the Senate is the one who actually votes him in (and the position itself). As far as who gets the tie-breaking vote during Princep Elections, I imagine the most convenient choice would indeed be the President as you've suggested CD.
In regards to Senate expansions, I'm in the same mindset as psweet on the subject. There's been some competition in the recent election and I'd wager it'd be best to keep things as they are to encourage said competition. There would also be no certainty that we'll always have as many willing to run for the Senate in the future. I could also imagine that if it was expanded, as result, people could be forced to continue running for the Senate each term just to keep it filled.

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

LC, I thought you already had the Temple of Coeruleus? :P

Psweet is correct, there probably is no need to expand the Senate size at this time, however it would be prudent to determine who decides future tiebreakers.

Also need to consider who decides a tiebreaker in a Princep Election...

I think the Princep should have the casting vote in Senate Elections, and maybe the President gets the decider in a tied Princep election...

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

Beg your pardon gents, seems my deputy got out of his cage again...

*shoos LC back to his corner*

I'm not sure expanding the Senate to four would be all that good of an idea. We had some competition and a vote last election, so it's probable that we could fill an extra seat. But then there wouldn't be any elections, and the people should not be forced to accept any one in office simply because the seat is uncontested. There ought to be elections (more of them, imo), and creating another seat will eliminate that.

Of course, if we eventually grow to a larger population base, increasing the size of the Senate is the sensible thing. Now, it seems to be prone to more ill fortune than good.

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

I think y'all need to construct a monument in my honour! :w00t:

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

Sorry, not trying to give you grief.

I think the Princep should have the deciding vote otherwise the distinction between the Executive branch and Senate gets muddled.

I'll raise an article of law vote soon if no one objects.

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda

Just give it to somebody and stop giving me grief. Some of the ideas mentioned here were first proffered by me, so I'll briefly chime in.
* Giving the Vice President something to do
Perhaps there is no need to legislate this, but I believe sword was onto something when he said there should be a task force *now* to plan future city locations. As others have pointed out, the game has stalled twice now due to absences in the court and we should now more than ever, make sure to eliminate such possibilities of repeat scenarios.

There's undoubtedly more which should be done, however, I'm really at loss towards specifics in the present (besides what's already been mentioned above). Thus, I propose we follow up with a previous suggestion I read, to centralize such ideas in one thread that pertained towards improvement of the Consitution and use the said thread as our think-tank.

RE: 3rd Term Senate Agenda
Giving the Vice President something to do
Not sure why that needs to be done.
