What is this always renegotiate deals option and where do I find it? Does it include right of passage agreements? I keep getting stuck with them. Short of writing down the date I start it, I can't find any way to tell when it expires or how to end it short of declaring war. Any suggestions?

PS right now, I'm playing the game straight from the disk, no patches.

PPS I'm so glad there are still other around who want to play Civ3. I tried Civ4 and I just can't get into it

BTW, it would be worth your while to get hold of the last patch for Civ3. Think it was 1.29 or 1.27. The Firaxis or CivFanatics sites will have it for easy Download. Should be a breeze to DL and install . . .

I was minded to compare this site to a sort-of-private Facebook, but, on reflection, that's not right . . . Nope. Here is a forum to exchange views and discuss topics and maybe have some literary fun; post some interesting pics (not Megabits of family krap); flag up some internet sites of Interest; pass on the occasional joke. To me, (struggling for analogy here) it's bit more like a quiet and cosy pub with locals you know and the occasional visitor from "outside"; thick stone walls and a cellar full of well-kept ale. Facebook, on the other hand, is some awful massive city-centre club that serves Fosters lager.   And, you know what? I am not unhappy with that analogy. I prefer the pub.

Wait!!!  Before you get the patch...check one thing.  Can you play old games on new patches?  I have yet to try this in either Civ III or IV.  I always finish my games before patching up.  Just a friendly warning, that might or might not be true...

I guess it depends on what version of civ you are running.  I started way back in vanilla civ but with ptw and conquests there have been lots of changes so I dont remember necessarily what has what.

I would say if you go to preferences, one of the options should be "always renegotiate deals".  If its not there, it may not be possible

Ask this talk about Civ III has gotten me to re-install it lol.  So I looked around for this renegotiating thing, and like it was already said, its under the preferences section on the main menu (I have Civ III complete).
