Ok, here's the situation. Been playing NuclearCow's unofficial June game of the month as the Iroquois - yes I know it's now August, been hard to find enough time to play.

Anyway, was very amused by my 'diplomatic' skills recently during play.

I'm #1 in the world, and the Inca are #2. The Inca thought it would be fun to demand some ivory from me. I refused, so they declared war on me!

The game is on a large map, and there are about 10-12 other surviving civs remaining. The Inca are halfway around the world away from me, so they won't get me anytime soon.

So I did 'the rounds', asking each civ to ally with me against the Inca. It didn't cost much, a luxury here, a resource there. Finally everyone was at war with the Inca! The best bit was that it didn't cost me any techs or gold - looks like the Inca weren't very popular!

Soooo... now my best rival is being beaten down by all the other civs, whilst I carry on getting bigger and stronger. Everyone loves me too!

I love it when a plan comes together...

The question now is, how long it will last before they get p***ed off with me and give up on the Inca.

There's still another 10-15 turns of my trade deals left, so they should be happy for a while yet... and do enough damage to the Inca!

CD, If I were you, I'd build the UN, and do Whatever it takes to get everybody to stay on your side...not just against the Inca! I won the game by a diplo, and My rival was...Korea. I had thought that it would be the Mayans, as they had conquered all of Aztecs and Cartage. Be wary, and check the victory screen often. As soon as someone, anyone, passes the Inca, wait for your deals with that civ to expire, then sign alliances against that country. Keep doing this, and you'll probably end up winning with the UN....Hey, it beats the histograph!

Use the wartime to put together a strike team and take 1 Inca city that has a luxury or strategic resource that you're missing.

Sounds like a plan psweet...

Diplomatic victory may well be possible, but it's about 50 turns away I reckon. I don't normally go for Diplo victory, but I agree it beats the histograph!

Yeah Tor, my forces are getting larger and larger, easily can repel any attacking force. Don't think I'll have time to use them for much conquest though.

It's a lot of fun manipulating the AI players to fight amongst themselves!

I do that on occasion. When I get ships with bombardment capability, I get into an agreement with another civ to beat up their tough neighbor. I send a couple of ships to blast his farms and resorces, thus complying with the aliance while letting them beat on eachother. If the war goes well, I'll send in a settler and some troops to occupy the ground when the borders shift.

I'll do that a lot, if I'm not hated by everyone. But usually the other civs end up doing very little damage and making peace with my enemy before I do. If you want something done right, do it yourself..
