First of all what an excellant forum this is, it will take me months to catch up n all the posts, but for now I have a problem. I have just got PTW in a goldedition pack and really wanna try it online but when they launch the game it waits a few mins then comes up saying about firewalls. I have turned off the win firewall and my norton firewall, please why will it still not run its driving me mad!! Thanks in advance for any advice. matt

First let me be the first to welcome you to the boards! what an excellant forum this is i quite agree ! now to your problem- i do not know much about this subject, but still ill try to help you, when does this happen: in the screen of the multipalyer, when ou start a game or when you click on the multiplayer button? other then that it might be that you should restart you'r computer befor it takes effect, or maybe you have someother "firwall" kind of program running. BTW- you also need the latest patch wich you can get here: Civ3 official webpage

Dammit dammit dammit, Ok I restarted, patched the game to 1.29f turned everything to do with net security off. I can get to the list of multiplayer games I can go into the games and tick ready but when they launch then after a few mins it comes up with the firewall thingy, still. why? Also the bottom left of the main PTW screen it says 1.01f should this not say 1.29. Dammit I hate this.
