If you mean a tournament as in everyoe plays everyone, or a sort of elimination thing. Yes, nice idea but it would take a LOOOOOOONG time... Feel free to start a multiplayer game in the PBEM forum though. You're bound to find some willing participants.

Normally 4 is the most you want to have play a PBEM game (or so I've heard). I guess it gets a bit drawn out when people forget about it.

Besides PBEM, there is hotseat (in which each guy needs to be in the same locale), and simultaneous play, where each guy has to be logged on at the same time, and turns can either occur at exactly the same time, or else one after the other, with a time limit.

Only problem with these latter types is that, its hard to finish one whole game in one session.

No, Scipos listed most of them I think. Just a list:

PBEM - very slow. Each save sent to the next person by e-mail

Hotseat - faster. Players use the same computer. Obviously not going to work without some hefty travel costs!

Simultaneous - fastest. Players play on LAN or on an internet connection. Can be saved (although when I tried it, I couldn't load it again...) but players have to be online at the same time, so difficult over different timezones, unless you have an oddball like myself who's awake and playing until 6am (sometimes...). Also, if you have it on a short time for each turn, it's hard to find the time to relieve yourself or grab some food :p
