I'd like to see a couple apsects from Civ II brought back for Civ IV;

1. The video clips that play when you have finished building a wonder. I really liked those, and they added a feeling of 'realism' to the game. I also want to see them longer in duration, at least 30 secs.

2. The return of the life-like visual and sound FX from nuclear strikes. The nuke FX from Civ II are rather chilling, whereas the FX on Civ III are pale in comparison.

I'm with you Redwing!

Ah yes, I remember grooving to the tune of Leonardo's workshop once it was built. I also liked the cinematics and music for the Eiffel Tower. What ever happened to that Eiffel tower anyway?

And the blare of the air raid siren upon unleashing thermo-nuclear weapons.

Who knows. Maybe they'll spice it up again.

The Islamic empire was.

I would like to see the ZoC more like it was in civ II; if we don't get the no movement thing back, at least make those "free shots" hit ALL the time. 1 out of ten is pretty worthless.

I'd like to see the diversification of units from civ II (there were some seven types of cavalry, and now we have...3?), as well as the return of the Firepower and Hitpoints combat system (why did they ever change that? It worked wonderfully!)

Trade caravans would also be a plus for me, but I know a lot of people don't like those.

Wonder movies and sound FX I can do without, I often play with no music on so I can do homework in between the long turns on huge maps.

I could go without the civ movies, I wouldnt mind them being there, so long as you had the option to turn that option off.

As to civ splitting, that would be great (I only saw it happen once in civ 2), maybe a civil war element too. When your nation splits, you automattically get to choose on side, and your automatically at war with the other. The only way to unite back together is to completely take over the other half again, or come to a diplomatic agreement of sorts.

And possibly have this diplomatic agreement option available in regualar diplomacy. Maybe after several turns with an MPP and RoP agreement, you could join with another civ to creat a super civ.

Again, this option would have to be hard to achieve, and happen only rarly, but it would sure help weak small civs advance.

Yah the movies would make a nice edition (especially if they mean i can show it to my friends without them going- Blah! wheres the graffics? wheres the action?. oh well the simple minded...)
though i hope they concentrate more on making it real, so you have the feeling your navigating the real world.
Civ III sometimes fits realety, but you have to add and disregard things on both sides for it to make a real fit.
Civ splitting is a must! it is getting rediculos that you can go throw the entire history and no one indipendence! i mean it happened ALL the time in the real world!

The diplomacy in previous civs and smac was containing a high element of uncertitude: you shouldn't be able of being allways sure if the other side accepts your offer. Each diplomatic step was combined with some level of risk. This made the whole game much more blood freezing. Civ3 made a great developement with diplomacy, but it lost something it didn't have to lose.

A great conservative modification would be if you would get advices like: "the will probably reject this offer". Having an offer rejected would allways mean bad consequences from simply losing your limited diplomatic comunication capacity like previously to having a war declared on you by the insulted opponent.

And guys pleeeeeaaase give one stupid "iron man" checkbox.
