Ok what about a feature which allows you to come to an agreement with an AI civ that allows one or the other (or both) of you to utelise a specifically defined area of territory. So you don't just have the black or white issue of "stay the hell out of my land" or "yes, why don't you come and clog up all of the vital transport routes in my civ just because I wanted to pass through some bottle neck you hold!". You would then be able to designate a certain area of your territory or request a certain part of say one of your allies' territory to be allowed to pass through, I think this kind of breakdown would be a fantastic improvement to the diplomatic aspect of dealing with other civs. This all or nothing situation as it stands is a pretty awful feature for me.

edit: and on the subject of the possibility of AI civs blocking your routes, I think if you ally with someone then you should absolutely be able to move through each others units without being blocked.

Good idea but it reminds me "the polish corridor" everyone know how it finished  I agree that going through friendly units is a need. How many times having a TP agreement my territory was flooded by the (crappy) AI units

Also nice: being able to ask money from civs passing a sea corridor you have under control. Some kind of toll.

In regards to civs passing over your terrain (often sea) without needing an ROP, I believe they have said they are going to tighten up the whole border issue in Civ 4, so hopefully that will be taken into account somehow aswell. Not a bad general idea to have at least some sort of toll concept possible anyway I think.

I've always been pretty upset at the way borders are almost completely ignored in a game by some AIs, so I was pleased on hearing that they are paying attention to that. I just hope that at least more flexible ROP agreements will be possible in the future, I think it'd work so much better!

I really hate when they do that, specially when they bring there whole army through your territory. Anyway we have talked about this before in a post that I believe was called Demilitaried Zones. This would actaully work better set aside a location where they can enter, but can not declair war in or at least if they can then its a huge rep hit. Also if you are allied with another nation and have a right of passage that is specified you should both be able to use those roads at the same time. I should not have to go around my allies and be delayed.

I want to be able to choose what to see to anybody passing my territory without a ROP. I mean, at first I can only say: please leave my territory. The AI will say: I'll leave, but they won't. Therefore I like the more aggressive one: leave my territory or declare war! They will then automatically be removed from your territory. But this agressive option doesn't show always. I think, it's better that both options are available from the beginning, so you can choose yourself what to say to the AI.

It would be a defintite progress if the ROP agreement wasn't mutual by obligation. 99% of ROP agreements in history weren't mutual, I wonder what a fool in firaxis has made it this way.
