Oh, I notice it with luxuries/resources as well...

What I do is double there offer or give a pritty crazy onhe 100-1000 (depends on what it is) then i begin halving. say i said 400, no? 200?, 100? yes. 150? yes 175? no 160? no, 155? yes 167? yes 169? no- 168 yes!
I agree its annoying at times but... well atleast u got that ultr-smart advisor. a politcal da vinci!

In case you didn't notice, there is an optimizer, called the "What would make this deal work?" option. It doesn't just prompt the other leader to state what more he wants, it also works the other way around. If the bargain currently on the table is disfavouring you, clicking the "What would make this deal work?" option actually increases the amounts on the other side of the table. Not that I know whether this is a perfect optimizer, but it lets you know approximately what the other party expects from the deal.
