This depends on what version you have.

If you have the conquests expansion then go to:
C:\Program Files\Infogrammes Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios.
It might be Atari instead of Infogrammes Interactive if you bought the game fairly recently. Copy the scenario file (the .biq) to here, and create a folder with the same name (so if the file was mymod.biq, the folder would be called mymod). Go into the folder you just created and create another called Art. Go into that and create one called Advisors. You should now have a path like this:
C:\...\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\[MOD FOLDER]\Art\Advisors
Now go to:
C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Art\Advisors
You need to copy these files to the Advisors folder you just created:
science_ancient.pcx
science_industrial.pcx
science_middle.pcx
Now go to:
C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\Advisors
and copy the science_modern.pcx file to the same place.

To direct the arrows just edit the image for the era. You may have noticed the X and Y parameters on the Civilization advances tab in the editor. This positions the tech on the page (in relation to the arrows).

If you have vanilla (without any expansions) then follow these instructions:
Go to C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive
(You might need to replace the 'Infogrames Interactive' with Atari if you bought a recent copy of the game) Now make a copy of the Civilization III folder. Go into the new folder and copy the editor file of your mod (the .bic) into it. Delete the file called civ3mod.bic and rename your file to civ3mod.bic.
Next go to:
C:\..\Copy of Civilization III\Art\Advisors
To 'direct the arrows' edit one of these files:
science_ancient.pcx
science_industrial.pcx
science_middle.pcx
science_modern.pcx
depending on which era the new tech is in. In the editor, the X and Y parameters on the Civilisation advances page alter the position the techs appear at on the page.
Finally, go back to the 'Copy of civilization III' folder, and create a shortcut to the file Civilization3.exe on your desktop. Use this shortcut (and select 'new game' to play your mod.

Let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

BTW welcome to the boards.

Hi Pesta,

I tried to edit the arrows in the tech tree like you said but I can't seem to open the pcx file in art\advisors. Do you know what program I might need to open this

Hey Pesta good to see ya!

I think the arrows you have to do in a drawing program like Illustrator.
