the marinelike beserkers might make that possible on an island hop map... I might have to try that out... I don't usually like Civ on islands as the navel side of the game is missing polish, but the early amp attacks could be interesting fuedalism in game terms....

Hmm... Making your military look big with police, to unit support on the police, to making it work with fuedalism. Ya, not a bad string hey?

And one of my faveorite games was played as the vikings on a cold small land mass island hop game. Hehe, was that ever entertaining.

Addit:
Though I prefer the Byzantines for that type of map
