Both xp pro machines run the game intro movie and sound until it gets to the play, load game screen then the monitor goes black and the light on the monitor turns to standby mode while the music plays in the background and you here the mouse clickd and what not if you click, just no more monitor..... if you turn the monitor off and turn it back on you get just a glimpse of the screen and then it goes black again.... the former ME machine that ran this game fine under ME is a 750 mghz hewlette packard running 256 megs with an onboard Intel video..  and the new one is a 1ghz epox running 500 megs mem with a RIVA TNT 2 with 64 megs onboard video mem... both pro machines have service pack 2 installed.... I have no patches at all for civ3 conquests installed...... Any idea what I am missing, I should mention also that I have had two other machines of mine in past that did the same thing with xp pro but it hasnt ever done it with an xphome machine yet unless I changed it to pro then voila I have this problem....This game does run on xp pro right???

If you know anything about this I reallly appreciate hearing from you this is the wife and Is favorite game and would really enjoy playing it and with a half dozen puters in house networked together one would think we get two of them to run it but only if they are ME machines or xphome machines niether of which I care for, I would really like to run just pro machines....and the game...
