Where's the barb power score?  I wonder if it would be possible to have a game where barbs were the dominant civ?

I think the logical next step would be the barbarians becoming an actual Civ, with which you have diplomatic relations. Although I don't know how historically accurate barbarians (verses an actual civilization) building a wonder is...

So essentially the only difference between Barbs and Civs is that you can negotiate with Civs.  I guess Barbs would only be city states too.  A neat mod would be if you could play as the barbs.  You can't negotiate with any civs so conquest would be the only goal I guess.  Perhaps it is harder to build settlers (if that's how they do it) but military upkeep would be minimal and cheaper to build.

Playing the GreekWorld mod, the Scythians (a barb tribe) built Stonehenge.

Makes you wonder about their building queue - I assume they prioritise military, and they can be very slow on farming or mining. Still, its good to see barbs showing more intelligence than Civ3 gave them. I'm also impressed that barbs will tend to group if they can rather then suiciding one per turn on city defences.

I love barbs.  In my current game, I was able to capture 5 barb cities, giving me a big advantage in expansion.  In addition I was able to gain experience for my units early on without having to go to war with a neighbor.  That said, it wasn't easy taking the cities.  One city (on a hill) took a couple tries before I could bring them down even with superior units.
