GOTM Closed: Champion: Ness Victory: Cultural  Normalized Score: 9477 - 1975AD

Greetings all, Here we go:

Version: 1.61

Civ: Egypt with 5 rival civs

Difficulty: Warlord

Settings:

Permanent Alliances Allowed - Modified Assets Locked

High Growth Start, it would seem:

Special Victory Conditions

All Victory Conditions have been allowed, but only 3 Victory Conditions will be accepted: Space Race, Cultural, and Diplomatic

Go to war if you wish, but don't loose track or you may attain domination.

Highest Normalized Score in any of the three approved conditions will be declared GOTM champion.

When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then PM your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]August06GOTM.Civ4SavedGame .

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

  1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
  2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
  3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
  4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Good Luck

Note: If you have problems with the downloaded file and you used Firefox or another browser other than IE, then try using IE or a compatible browser to download. If your problems persist, post and someone will email the save to you.

Up to Date Submissions:

Hmmm.....tricky start position...it's either the Rice or the Cow....I'm tempted to move 1S and settle there, freeing the hill for a mine, looks like we're gonna need those hammers.

Tech is crucial for all three victory conditions, But I guess it shouldn't be a problem....I'm gonna try and get some cottages up on those floodplains asap.

I clicked the screenshot, but just then remembered that it'd probably reveil a lot of info about the game....so I closed it before getting a look.

So anyway, did you win your game? what score, victory condition? (if any)

What about everyone else? Who's playing and who's planning on playing?

Myself, I've downloaded the file, but won't start untill last week of August or so, as I've got plenty of time to do it in one or two sessions then.

I'll try and attempt a go at the GOTM this time around. I just have to prepare myself for around 3-5 hours of neglecting my loved ones. Not to mention I've been having a bad case of civ burn out. Bleh...

Okay.. after all this debate about Civilization IV warfare in the other areas of the boards here, have lead me to beginning the process of completing this game. However, I'm currently in the process of reinstalling my copy of Civilization IV onto this computer. I've recently had problems with a driver I had previously installed regarding the Catalyst Control Center for my Radeon Xpress 200.. needless to say, it resulted in me losing some of my files including Civilization IV itself. Thus, due to my vacation I was hard pressed to do anything about it until now (hope that explains my absences with Diplomacy and etc. previously).

But cheers! All that is left after I reinstall Civilization IV itself is the patch installation, then finally having a go at this game... I'll have the save in some time in the next couple days.
