Jeeze, Biz...how do you do it? ? (So fast I mean) I got off to a great start last night, popped two goody huts in proximity to my capital, the first, upon founding my capital city a worker, and one nearby a settler (to be the 3rd city). This vastly allowed for rapid growth in my capital city without need for a worker or initial third city, allowing me to grab early wonders such as both the Oracle and the Stonehenge, this in essence provided me with the ability to get a few early religions, and from there....who knows. We'll see if I can whoop it up some more, I certainly won't be completing this one in less than 24 hours though.
I basically begun the game attempting to implement a 'early-game' experiment strategy (only tested it with this game). I like to refer to it as "Religious Monopolization." As the name suggests, I would attempt to monopolize the religious system for my own Diplomatic advantages.
Further explained in detail... this meant that I would attempt to research each and every religion before any other opposing civilization had the chance. This would allow me to be the founder of each religion basically controlling the total influence, rate or progression, and commercial aspects of each and every religion.
The three main Diplomatic benefits of such would be that that:
A.) This would allow me to implement a common 'faith' system among my neighbors. Meaning, while I indeed founded every religion, I could choose to only spread one specific religion... succsefully monopolizing the system to my own Diplomatic Advantages.
B.) With each religion founded, I was able to gain the rights to the world wonders of each religion. Meaning, that as long as the above mentioned common 'faith' system was implemented, it would insure I also gained a sizable commercial benefit for my treasury. Thus, it allowed me to focus towards complete dominance over my neighbors in the scientific field.
C.) With the monopolization of this common 'faith' system I would be able to guarantee 'cheap' protection in time of need (if ever). But the main objective of such would be mainly to 'prevent' any diplomatic situations such as war in favor of more beneficial diplomatic ventures.
I knew this could be achievable rather easily due to the map's specific type being a pangea. Thus, it implied that no major body of water would stand as a obstacle to separate me and neighbors... and even better, my missionaries of 'the one true faith' and my neighbors.

I'll disclose more of the game details and the actualy save after this game finishes up (if anybody's interested).

| That's a good strategy, Biz, but you didn't answer my question, when I asked how you did it so fast, I didn't mean the 19th century AD victory. That's fine, what I meant, is you said, one night, you didn't have the patch downloaded yet, and then the next day you posted your victory save!
I could never finish one game in less than 24 hours like that! |

| Took me 3 hours and 52 mins for a Cultural victory with 60 odd turns to go, so a miserly score of 5069 I'm afraid. The first pic is the victory screen, and the second is my score.
I think where I went wrong, is forgetting to raise the cultural slider earlier in the game, I only remembered it near the end, and I was screaming away in technology the whole time. I had Islam, Christianity, Taoism and Confusism (sp?) with their respective thingys giving me a wack of cash, along with a city that had about 8 Great prophets in it and a great merchant along with Wall Street. My problem was what to do with all of the cash?
I guess the other thing I could have done was go out and capture some cities and gain more points that way while being careful not to win by domination victory. I could have steam-rollered any other civ. I never declared war, only captured the occasional city from a civ that declared war on me. Oh, and 2 cities that defected through culture.
A quick, entertaining game - what a start... |

And I, I might add, am the same way at the moment. |

| Interesting approach Biz, however you stated you "attempted" to found all religions. Did you succeed? From your post I gather the answer is yes, but just checking.
Not trying to divulge to much information regarding my game, but no, I wasn't successful in founding every rereligion. I was unsuccessful in discovering the most basic religion to research in the game... Buddhism. This effected me diplomatically somewhat until I managed to negotiate Right of Passages with the heathens and sent in large amounts of Missionaries to convert them. I guess you gents can tell from the Victory Screen shot I took who beat me to it.

The game took me about three hours to complete, LC.
