No I didnt restart more than oce. My initial attempt was without the save I just did all the needed settings on custom map. Than I came back to the board to make msure I did it write. When I found out I did it wrong I was diappointed but I installed the file. After I installed the file I decided to reformat my harddrive. When that was done I reinstalled the file again and then started. So actually only 1 true attempt. I guess there is next month.

OK, I missunderstood some of the settings you were playing with then - tough break with this GOTM, but as you say, there's only a coupe of weeks until the next one

Hi, I'm new here and was curious about this competition. Am I right in thinking that you play it using 'vanilla' Civ4 set to Warlord level? Probably too late for me to take part in the August tourney, but I would be interested in the next one. Always like a challenge.

No... in the first post there is a save file...  you download and play it... then upload per the instructions...  plenty of month left if you want to try it.   hehehe...  I really should start...  grrrr....  mandatory overtime...  laundry....  yard work, or Civ?  hmmm.

The difficulty setting is already sorted in game. Basically, imagine you were just starting a game, had set everything up and clicked 'start'. Then someone called meaning you had to save the game before you'd done anything. The file you download is that save.

It took me under 4 hours to play, so there's still time this month

Oh, and welcome to the boards!
