Start: 1040 AD

Science set to 70 percent, Tax set to 30 percent. Physics in 8 turns. +7 gpt. We have

182 gp in the treasury.

We have met the French, Germans, Egyptians, Greeks, Zulus, Babylonians and Romans. We are at peace with all.

Technology wise, we are more or less even with our neighbors, well ahead of France

and Babylon and even with Greece and Germany, but lacking Knowledge of the Metallurgy (Zulu, Rome, Egypt system and a Democratic system (Egypt).

We have sold excess Ivory and Dyes to Rome for 14 gpt each Hoo-Ray!! We're now making 35gpt. Science bumped up to 80percent, for Physics in 7 turns, and 11gp.

Goals for this session: 1.) Make a push towards Democracy (more Aqueducts, Banks and Cathedrals) 2.) Establish Persian Democracy 3.) Strengthen Defenses on Southern Border with Egypt 4) Start war with Zulu and capture Tyre, Umtata, Bapedi and Umfolozi

1) 1050 AD- Egypt completes Magellans Voyage.

2) 1060 AD- Ivory deal with Germany Cancelled. We lose out on a measly 4gpt.

3) 1070 AD- New source of SaltPeter descovered near City of Babylon! Hoo-Ray!

4) 1080 AD- Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

5) 1090 AD- Physics in 1 turn, Science lowered to 50 percent to get 82 gp next turn.

6) 1100 AD- Physics discovered. Economics is next (6 turns, 80 percent). Adam Smiths is a must in my book.

7) 1110 AD- War declared on Zulu. Let us see what they throw at us!

8) 1120 AD- Our Forces of Knights and Immortals move towards Tyre. Will be able to attack in 2 turns.

9) 1130 AD- Glory!!!!! While our main force was busy moving on Tyre, I had left behind a Pike/Knight on border fortified in fortress. Several Knights attacked fort, killing pikeman, but Knight thwarted two Zulu Knight, promoted to Elite. On counterattack Knight spawned Victorious General. Army created in Paris, Knight Army created to march on Tyre next turn!!! Gravy!!!

10) 1140 AD- Embassy established in Thebes, Egypt. They are building Smith's Trading Company- 26 turns. Economics next turn. Science set to 20 percent, for 167 gpt.

***Battle Report***
Tyre has been captured, with minimal losses (1 Persian Knight destroyed)


11) 1150 AD- In counterattack on Tyre, we lose 2 Knight, but manage to keep the city.

All forces moved in to allow for defense and rest. Economics discovered. I'm making a strong push for Adam Smith's in Arbela, but cannot guarantee anything. I am persuing Theory of Gravity next, so that we may go after Newton's Uni as a backup plan.

12) 1160 AD- We trade territory maps with Egypt, at Cleo's request. They have colonies sprinkled all over the place.

13) 1170 AD- Our forces now set to attack Umtata next turn.

14) 1180 AD- In another counterattack on Tyre, 2 Zulu knights are slayed, one by our newly arrived musket! Oh Glorious news, sir. In Elite Immortal attack on Umtata, a new Military Genius has emerged victorious! There is no stopping us now! Subsequent to that, Umtata has fallen. We did not even need the Army, which has been sent to Umfolozi.

15) 1190 AD- Oh Damn!!! The Zulu have Musket in Umfalozi. Son of a ***!!!!! This is going to be much more difficult than planned! I'm sending everything we got at 'em which means we must wait one more turn for all of our forces to be ready. Meanwhile, Our Military Genius has arrived in Arbela and has ordered the construction of Adam Smith's trading company!!! Hoo-Ray! We get it afterall!!! In Civ3 Conquests you cannot use Military Leaders to rush Great Wonders, but this Ain't Conquests!!! In other news, it is noted the Egypt has Calvary!!!

16) 1200 AD- Adam Smith's Completed in Arbela! Celebrate! Celebrate! Celebrate Yeah!

The Seige on Umfolozi!

The good news is we capture Umfolozi with no other losses, but we lost our ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!




17) 1210 AD- Theory of Gravity next turn. Science set to 10 percent for 262 gp coming in. Embassy established in Athens, Greece.

18) 1220 AD- Wow! Umfolozi attacked with Zulu Calvary! Lucky, Our Elite Immortals beat them! And a musket is now fortified there! We're doing fine. Theory of Gravity discovered! Democracy next! In 5 turns!!!!

19) 1230 AD- Several Civic Projects Rushed and Completed!

20) 1240 AD- Production in Arbela set to Newton's University. It will be completed in turns, though Egypt is building in Thebes, and Rome in Veii. We may not get it, but if we don't we can always just switch to one of the small wonders.

1). More or less accomplished. Several banks and aqueducts completed, and even one Cathedral in Persepolis.

2). Democracy will be discovered in 3 turns. it's your call.

3). We got one musket in each southern most city. we could easily have more on the way. I'd recommend it. There is a lot of Egyptian activity over there.

4). Well, 3 outta 4 ain't bad. I was more concerned with preparing for democracy than for replenishing our war machine, but even then, had we not lost the Army, we'd have been able to take Bapedi. Zulu will settle for peace, but they won't give us anything more than a map. We could take it now that they are weakened and focus on Egypt, or we could keep pushing with some more build up. However, I'd not recommend taking on Egypt until we get the Calvary.

And Look, we even got Adam Smith's Trading Company! A nice little bonus there!!!

Ummm, I am hoping that the Army had at least 1 victory so that we get military academy, get some factories , create some Armies and Steamroll over Egypt.

May i introduce you to a new Tactic, Explorer Spam! I think with 15+ explorers, i can pillage each and every improvement in egypt, Meaning that they cant produce cavalry and i hope to get them begging for peace before nationalism.

Good Job there with Smith's ! That means i can rush banks and (Later, Airports) like crazy without having to pay for them! And you know how useful an Airport is, We are looking strong, I just need to make sure that no Zulu Cavalry can enter to attack our city within 1 turn so i can take them out.

Here is the Turn Report-

My Objectives were

1) Kill Zulu

2) Get to Industrial Era

3) Possibly start the revolution for Democracy

I have geared entire Persia towards the war Machine, I change Science spending so that the research time for democracy stays same but i gain more GPT

1) 1250 A.D- 2 Zulu Cavalry Spotted, I take care of 1. Knight in Persepolis, Sent to Front Lines, I trade with Greece- Economics and Physics for Metallurgy

2) 1255 A.D- 2 Immortals and a knight die attacking a cavalry but we manage to kill the cavalry. 2 Musketmen Produced, Sent to Babylon and Umfolozi. Democracy in 1 turn, we gain 169 gp.

3) 1260 A.D- A zulu Cavalry and Knight die attacking Persian Musket. Bank in Bactra, set to knight.

4) 1265 A.D- A Elite Zulu Archer Pops out of nowhere and kills our Pikeman in Rheims, I also Spot a Great Leader from that Archer! Our Knight Kills the Elite Archer, Our Immortal in Rheims kills the Veteran Impi Protecting Great Leader, the Great Leader is killed! Huzzah!

5) 1270 A.D-3 Explorers Produced, Knight in Persepolis, Our Musket Dies to Cavalry Attack in Umtata

6) 1275 A.D- Our Musket and Immortal die by Cavalry Charges in Umfolozi, Fortunately, Another Musket arrives just in time. Knight in Susa, Sent! Egypt Bags Newton's University, We change to Wall street, complete in 4 turns!

7) 1280 A.D- Our Musketman Kills Cavalry, Our Knight kills cavalry but dies to a knight, Our Immortal Kills Longbowman, Our Knight dies to another Knight. Magnetism in 1 turn, we gain 60 gp.

8) 1290 A.D- We become Industrial, Free tech is Nationalism , Not bad, steam Power in 10 turns, We gain Free Artistry, Military Tradition and Maps for Nationalism from Romans. We Capture Tugela, I rush Barracks in Umfolozi, I upgrade 4 Knights to Cavalry

9) 1290 A.D- Our Cavalry kills Zulu Cavalry, I am Upgrading Muskets to Riflemen in Umfolozi

10) 1295 A.d- Government Mobilized, I move All cavalry (4 of them) on a Mountain SE of Umfolozi

11) 1300 A.D- 2 Zulu Cavalry kill our Cavalries. Our Cavalry kills Musket in Ulundi, Another Cavalry dies to Pikeman, Lots Of Pillaging by our Explorers

12) 1305 A.D- Our Cavalry Kills, Our Cavalry Kills Impi, 2 Cavalry Produced

13) 1310 A.D- 5 Cavalry Produced, LOL, We see Ulundi Undefended and we grab it! We go for Islandanwha next

14) 1315 A.D- Zulu Recapture Ulundi Because it was Undefended, We Retake it, Lots of Pillaging, 2 Cavalry Produced

15) 1320 A.D- 3 Cavalry Produced, We take Islandanwha Easily. Moving on to Zimbabwe!

16) 1325 A.D- 3 Cavalry Produced, We capture Zimbabwe easily and with no losses, Forces March on to Hllobane . I give Egypt 100 gp as goodwill, I trade Egypt Silks for Dyes, I upgrade Muskets in Babylon.

17) 1330 A.D-  We capture Hllobane, 2 Cavalry Produced. Moving on to Bapedi

18) 1335 A.D- Ulundi Deposes our Government! We recapture it with no losses. We capture Bapedi, Moving on Ngome, Steam Power in 1 turn, we gain 250 gp!

19) 1340 A.D- Steam Power researched, Industrialization next, We capture Ngome

20) 1345 A.D- Some Cavalry, Some Railroads, I am building a few Workers

I STRONGLY Recommend a Offensive against Greece next,I have got 2-3 Cavalry stationed on Border, After that, we need to kill 1 of the 2 great powers (Egypt,Rome) To gain a Domination.

The 1st Half was depressing, but in the 2nd half, we owned!

Also check out the Large numbers of Explorers, I suggest that you pump out a few as we get railroads, They are extremely useful for Devastating any Economy.

Start: 1345 AD

Science set to 90 percent, Tax set to 10 percent. Industrialization in 7 turns. +24 gpt. We have 951 gp in the treasury.

we are currently mobilized for war.

We have met the French, Germans, Egyptians, Greeks, Zulus, Babylonians and Romans. We are at peace with everyone except Zulu, whome we shall soon kick off the continent.


Technology wise, we are more or less even or slightly ahead of all our neighbours, except those that we have crushed, whom which we are well ahead.

No favourable deals exist with our neighbours.

Goals for this session: 1.) Remove Zulu from the continent then 2.) make peace and end war time mobilization 3.) then when we get Industrialization start building factories 4) all the while firmly establish our rail network.

1) 1350 AD- We re-up with Rome, 14gpt for the Ivory.

A Zulu Calvary in Intombe attacks our approaching Calvary and is utterly defeated.

On our turn we easily capture Intombe.

2) 1355 AD- Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

3) 1360 AD- We defeat two defenders in Mpondo (w/Cavalry), but do not have enough available Cavalry to take the city. It will have to wait until next turn.

4) 1365 AD- In just a few short turns we now have rail network complete from Persepolis to Zimbabwe! Now it's time to work on the rest of the cities.

Mponde has been captured. I don't know how we lost 2 Calvary to their weak little Impi, but we managed to take the city anyways. And with that peace has been made unconditionally and we return to normalcy.

5) 1370AD- We trade territory maps with Greece.

6) 1375 AD- Science set to 70 percent in anticipation of Industrialization. Netting 107 gp next turn.

7) 1380 AD- Egypt demands territory map and 70 gp. We tell Cleo to kiss off!!!! We shall not forget these idle threats.

Industrialization Discovered. We're going for Medicine/Sanitation next so that we may watch our cities grow with the Hospitals!

It is time to overthow the King and establish a Democracy. Revolution started. We will return to order in 6 turns.

8) 1385 AD- REVOLUTION.

9) 1390 AD- REVOLUTION!

(New source of saltpeter discovered near Ngome!)

10) 1395 AD- REVOLUTION!! (Coal near Bapedi exhaustd. Thank the Eternal Spirit we have another near Ur.)

11) 1400 AD- REVOLUTION!!!

12) 1405 AD- REVOLUTION!!!!

13) 1410 AD- The Revolution is Over!!! Persian Democracy established. Science lowered to 80 percent. We're now making 33gpt and Medicine in 5 turns. With as many luxuries as we have we shan't need to invoke luxury rate for quite some time.

Several courthouses have been rushed in our newly acquired cities.

Ivory and Dyes each sold to Germany for 5gpt.
Spices sold to Zulu for 3gpt.

14) 1415 AD- Dyes renewed with Romans for 13 gpt.

17) 1430 AD- We renew our Dyes for Silk trade with Egypt, but this time Cleo wants 75 gp as well. We agree.

18) 1435 AD- Railroad to Lyons completed- Meaning that all of our cities on the continent are now connected by rail! Hoo-RAH!!!!

19) 1440 AD- Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

20) 1445 AD- Sanitation Next Turn. Science lowered to 30 percent to get us an extra 390 gp.

4) All cities connected, working on remaining infrastructure.

We also are a Democracy now. I cannot understand why you pillaged all of the Zulu land down there. Now our workers are spending vital time rebuilding the infrastructure when they could certainly be doing other things like clearing out all that jungle. I have disbanded all of our explorers so as to boost product in our most unproductive townes.

Regardless, I've got us on the path to be an Economic Industrial powerhouse. The combination of factories + hospitals + every conceivable tile railed will be lethal.

I've also spent heavily in Cannons. They do the trick just nicely. Our military is focused in Babylon mainly and Ashur as well...right on the Egyptian border. Once we get our factories up and running we should be able to amp up in no time so that we can do whatever we want.


Sanitation next turn. 390gpt currently with 30 percent Science 70 percent tax. 217 in the bank.

It did not cause me any pain. But it's not a tactic I will typically use. I have used pillaging to unleash economic havoc on an opponent in games before, but typically it is against rather large nations that I do not plan on invading and conquering. Typically it involves the use of an Infantry Army late in the game when I am going for some sort non military victory to really wreck one of the strong opponents that I have no interest in conquering.

But if we're talking about a small nation that we plan on conquering, that the improved terrain will be of benefit to us, then I really see no point in doing this. I don't think it would be necessary, because if we cannot win the war otherwise, that is to say, if we don't have sufficient forces, then we shouldn't be waging the war in the first place.

Let me tell you know that I am no warmonger. I'm not opposed to warfare at all, it has its uses. But I can count on one hand how many military type victories I've completed since I've been playing this game. There was one in civ2 and two in civ3- one dynasty game with Ness and one PBEM alliance with Zone. And that is it.

You may wish to consider this when you choose to start up another multiplayer game.

Ooh ooh can i do this to the Egyptians and Romans in this game?

I know, but our defenses were splintering and i saw the need to shut down the Zulu Machinery else they would get Riflemen before us and overwhelm us with superior Cavalry forces.

1) 1450 A.D- Beeline for Infantry, Electricity in 5 turns. Communism Traded for Medicine. Workers spread out. Chopping Forests.

2) 1455 A.D-zzzz

3)1460 A.D- Tarsus builds Marketplace. Ellipi Builds Aqueduct. Both set on Cannons.

4) 1465 A.D- Paris Builds Factory. Work has started on Coal Plant

5) 1470 A.D- Persepolis builds factory. Work started on Coal Plant. electricity in 1 turn . 169 gp to be gained.

6) 1475 A.D- Electricity Gained. Replacable parts in 5 turns. Arbela builds Factory. Starts Coal plant.

7) 1480 A.D-zzzz

8) 1485 A.D- Paris Builds coal Plant. I buy a worker from the Greeks.

9) 1490 A.D- Persepolis builds Coal Plant. Work started on Hospital.

10) 1495 A.D- Arbela builds Coal Plant. Starts on Military Academy. 377 gp gained. RP in 1 turn.

11) 1500 A.D- We have Infantry. Scientific Method in 5 turns. Ugprade Started. Started Concentrating Workers in Persepolis. Some are sitting in Ashur.

13) 1510 A.D- Nothing much. First Pollution seen.

14) 1515 A.D- Heroic Epic Completed ( I forgot where i started it, Maybe Paris) 5 Artillery Produced. Scientific Method in 1 turn. 494 gp gained.

15) 1520 A.D- Researched Scientific Method. Researching Corporation. Bee-lining for Flight. Corporation in 4 turns. 1 Artillery Produced

16) 1525 A.D- Bactra builds Coal Plant. ( Please have a look at that city)

17) 1530 A.D- We lose our Silks. Military Academy in Arbela. I take 11gpt from Cleopatra for dyes.

18) 1535 A.D- We build 5 artillery. Corporation in 1 turn. 599 gp to be gained.

19) 1540 A.D- Refining in 6 turns.

20) 1545 A.D- 4 Artillery Produced. Nothing else

Our goals have more or less been sucessful. All Artillery are stationed in Persepolis and some are scattered. I have built Infrastructure. Have a look at the cities mentioned in the report.

Nice Job! We ahve quite a few very productive cities. It seems you left a bunch of workers sitting around. I would have liked to have seen them developing some of that Zulu lands, which is what I would do.

Goals for this session: 1.) Develop the infrastructure around the cities in the acquired Zulu lands 2.) Build Hospitals in all of our Size 12 cities 3.) Completely Modernize our Army and prepare/initiate war with Greece.

1) 1550 AD- We again renew with Rome, 14gpt for the Ivory.
We demand Egypt and Greece move forces from our territory.

They comply.

Several military upgrades made to strengthen our defence.

2) 1555 AD- Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

3) 1560 AD- Darwin's Theory of Evolution completed in Paris.

Free Technologies spurred: Completion of Refining, development of Atomic Theory. Electronics next, 6 turns.

4) 1565 AD- Army built in Arbela. Cavalry Army established and stationed near Gordium in far north!

5) 1570 AD- Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

6) 1575 AD- Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

7) 1580 AD- With all the structures being built, Hostpistals, Universities, Cathedrals, we're starting a deficit now! No worries!

8) 1585 AD- Rioting in Paris, Pasargade and Bactra as our cities grow. Note, all three were currently producing Cathedrals!!!

Electronics next turn! Scince set to 50 percent to coup back 285gp.

9) 1590 AD- Electronics discovered. Science reset to 70 percent. Steel next, in 5 turns. 90 gpt.

Our troops prepare for war against Greece.

10) 1595 AD- Hoover Dam started in Arbela. ETA- 13 turns

War shall begin next turn!

11) 1600 AD- Egypt completed Universal Suffrage. Good for them.

We contact Alex, demand all of his cities. He rejects, we declare war and march on Pharsalos.

That's kind of dumb, we try and attack with our army, and it says non combat units cannot attack, even though it is loaded with three cavalry. Army is utterly useless

12) 1605 AD-

The War @ Orleans. 4 Greek Hoplites approach the city. We easily destroy them but lose one infantry in the process.

The War at Pharsalos. City captured, no losses. Reinforced.

The war at Persepolis. A bevy of Knights and Cavalry wandering in the hills. We bombard them to smitherines and then finish them all off. We loose three Cavalry in the process.

13) 1610 AD- In defense of Pharsalos. Several Knights and a Phalanx approach the city. We bombard them down and finish them off. We loose one Reg. Cavalry in the process.

Steel next turn. Science set to 50 percent. 305 gp extra income! Yeah!!!!

14) 1615 AD- Steel discovered, Combustion next. 6 turns.
Ivory to Germany for 5gpt cancelled.
Dyes to Rome for 13 gpt renewed.
Horses to Zulu for 3 gpt renewed

The Defense of Pharsalos- We thwart off attacking Cavalry. The Attack at Argos. Heavy Bombardment. City Captured, no losses.

The Attack at Mycenae. Heavy Bombardment, ineffective. City Captured, no losses.

Now we regather the troops for Seige on Delphi and Thermopylae.

15) 1620 AD- Dyes to Germany for 5 gpt renewed.

Greece and Babylon sign embargo against us. Pricks.

We trade Medicine to Germany in exchange for Espionage. A fair deal.

We are set to attack Delphi and Thermopylae next turn.


16) 1625 AD- Egypt wants MPP and 9gpt, we tell them no thanks!

Greece wants Peace, we demand all her cities. the war continues.

Greece activates MPP with France and Babylon. What a fine opportunity to remove france from the game now.

Battle at Thermopylae. Heavy Bombardment. City Captured, no losses.

Battle at Delphi. Heavy Bombardment wrecks Rifleman. City Captured, no losses. JS Bach Cathedral Captured!!!

18) 1635 AD- We renew Dyes to Egypt for 11gpt.

Battle at Pharsallos. Heavy Bombardment. City Captured no losses.

Battle at Sparta. Artillery utterly ineffective. Rifle undamaged. Hold off on attack. More forces to arrive.

Combustion next turn. Cannot adjust Science without affecting that.

19) 1640 AD- Haha. Global warming turns grasland to plains near Delphi. And we have no pollution in our territory! Must be due to all that jungle we've been cutting down.

Combusion discovered. Mass Production next, 5 turns.

Preparations being made for final Greek battles.

20) 1645 AD-

Battle at Corinth. No artillery support, for strategic reasons. Cavalry capture city. One unit lost reduction in greek culture around sparta allows for greater flexibility in troop movement.

Goals for this session: Goals for this session: 1.) Develop

the infrastructure around the cities in the acquired Zulu lands 2.) Build Hospitals in all of our Size 12 cities 3.) Completely Modernize our Army and prepare/initiate war with Greece.


1) Not done but a TON has been accomplished.

2.) Not complete, but we've built several, and several more are on the way.

3.) Greek is all but conqured. The rest is up to you! We now also have infantry in most of our cities.

Got a lot done. We're in good shape my friend. You're set up
to take Athens on the next turn. Heriklea is in the far NE. You should be able to get back to that, remove Greece from our continent and make peace before war wearyness kicks in. Then you can stew around abit, reinforce our military with new units and make a run on Egypt. The choice is yours.

Please note will will be getting the Hoover Dam in 3 turns. This puts a Hydro plant in all our continental cities. This will allow you to sell the coalplants in all cities that have them, because coal plants are just as productive as the hydro plants but the hydro plants will be free!


Mass Production in 4 turns. 79gpt currently with 70 percent Science 30 percent tax. 1163gp in the bank.

For reasons already mentioned, i was not able to play PBEM. i will get to it as soon as i can!
