Anyone tried the Blue Marble terrain mod?

I just got the game, both IV and Warlords and I've played a couple of games, trying to get used to all the changes. The blue marble site, doesn't show the changes side by side, and I don't see much of a difference.

Ya, I use it.  U using the high or low detail settigns.  On high it has a nice improvement of graphics, making hills more real lloking and stuff.  The units and cities still lokk the same to me though.

I adore the Blue Marble graphics mod. The terrain is a lot easier to my eyes and easier to figure stuff out. I won't play without it.

Hmm...a mod that does nothing but change graphics?  What's the point?

Besides, I don't know if the ole compy here can handle it - I have enough trouble with the regular game as it is.  Is it that much harder on the computer?  If it's not I'll give it a try (I can still give it a try anyway, since my computer does well until the end of the game)

They have a hi-res and a low-res version. Use the low-res ones. It doesn't add any pressure on your resources. It simply makes the graphics better than the ones that shipped with the game. The colors look tremendously better, imo.

I find Blue Marble provides a bit more of a realistic look whereas the original graphics are more cartoonly looking.

A new version of Blue Marble is out. I've installed it and it's stunning. Gives a completely different look to the game. For the first time, it not only includes terrains, but themes, backgrounds and leaderheads. It's just.. stunning. Take a look at the URL I posted and you'll see what I mean.

There's a caveat, tho': Warning: Civ4-BtS currently (V3.02) contains a bug and Multiplayer crashes on using alternative graphics. Until Firaxis releases a bug fix, Blue Marble cannot be used for BtS-Multiplayer.

That's fine by me; I'm not familiar enough with BtS to take it into PBEM mode just yet.
