Game Closed

Champion: aconfusedkid Victory: Space Race  Normalized Score: 15,664 - 1921AD

Rishbhav Victory: Cultural  Normalized Score: 7306 - 1932AD

Zone Victory: Cultural  Normalized Score: 6237 - 1959AD

Let's get the party started...

Vanilla CivIV

Civ: India

Leader: Asoka (Spi/Org)

Difficulty: Warlord with 6 Random Rivals

Start Position:

Options Selected:
Always Peace: There is no war with this GOTM.
Raging Barbs: No War, but don't neglect your early military....
Modified Assets Locked: No Worldbuilder, of course
All Victory Conditions have been allowed and all will be accepted.

Highest Normalized Score in any victory will be declared GOTM champion.

When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then PM your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]Dec06GOTM.Civ4SavedGame.

Good Luck

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

  1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
  2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
  3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
  4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Nice, should be fun.

Is this Civ4 Warlords? With raging barbs, an early Great Wall is a must!

Looks like it will be a very interesting game!  However, I must pass this month, and for a reason that will be obvious soon...

ADDIT: DANG IT! Get an error message that the file I'm trying to load is protected against having my assets modfied. I know that they are not actually modified, though maybe I've copied and pasted somethings and it is detecting that change. My vanilla files are unchanged, I am confident, but I do have mods I've made in other folders etc.

I wonder if maybe the Warlords installation or the update is maybe what is screwing with this?

*Sigh* doesn't look like I"m gonna be able to join in unless I go to the trouble of reinstalling everything in Vanilla.

Have you guys done any Warlords GOTMs yet?

I'll try this one out. On Warlord difficulty, I might actually be able to survive! However, because I have mostly played my "Scipio's Marathon Mod," my timing tends to be all screwed up for these lightning fast games. Will see if I can compensate or not.

Did you put the Warlords disc in, or the cIV disc?

Well, I did it in one sitting: 3:35. Tough to get a high score. Cultural victory in 1959AD with a score of 6237

Dang! This application is frickin' picky isn't it!

HOF Mod not found

Errors found with installed assets

Extra file needs deleting: Assets\XML\GameInfo\Copy of CIV4GameSpeedInfo.xml

I'll delete that copy I made and see if that makes it run.

And to answer your question Zone, I DID insert the Vanilla Civ CD, not Warlords.
