Here are the available options. If you want the game in incorporate one or more of them, you must nominate them in this thread. We will then poll on them.

If you have any questions about a particular option, post them and we'll make sure all are understood.

Note: Lock Modified Assets is going to be selected without polling.

Nominations will be accepted for approximately 96 hours (4 days). In the US Central Time Zone, that means Friday night.

Have you guys played on Raging barbs, or permanent alliances? These are neato if you have a specific type of scenario you want to create, but for a general epic game they can be pretty constraining.

Even if you are playing on Warlord difficulty (not Noble) raging barbs means that you will have to build a ton of military and likely fall behind in Tech. In the Warlords expansion, this can work pretty well cause you can train your troops up to 10/17 experience and this counts toward your Great Leader points. But in Vanilla it is largely a pain in the arse cause of the importance of building culture, etc.

Permanent alliances could be interesting, but only if there was only one of the 6 AI that was your ally. Actually, this would produce an interesting tradeoff in which having the ally might alleviate the pressure from the barbs a bit.

I've never played in a Democracy Game which implemented Permanent Alliances... it could make the game pretty interesting. I'll go ahead and side with that option, the rest I'll abstain from commenting on, as I have no real opinion concerning them.

Permanent Alliances provides the option to make such deals when the required tech is discovered. Its nothing locked in at the start of the game like always war or always peace.

I have not ever noticed the Great General bar increase from fighting barbarians.

If that's the case, I'd be all for that.  I think what everyone is thinking of is "locked alliances" but it doesn't appear to be an option (though it's probably availiable somewhere else).  I would not be for Raging Barbs after playing a PBEM where that was a setting.  Once the animals are gone, you will get wave after wave of barbs which will not allow you to improve the land around you unless you have a few military units per worker (or work group) until you expand enough to eliminate the problem of "spawning" in those FOW spaces, which will hurt your economy if done too quickly.  Either way, your economy is severely hampered since you can't build enough cottages (and protect them) to get your science spending in order.  It's "fun" for the first little bit until you realize that they just aren't going to let up, then it's just tedious.  I think for a Dgame it could potentially kill it altogether.  But, hey, that's just me.

Where is that Great General Bar? I have yet to find it! But my read of the Warlord's rules & Game Concepts was that anytime a unit gains experience it goes into your overall level of military experience, and thus goes toward the Great General. Might be wrong, but my sense was that I had got 1st Great Generals from experience that was predominantly from barb fightin'.

Thanks for clarifying permanent alliances. I'd say that is a cool option then since all it does is allow permanent alliances.

I'd say, unless other factors will mitigate the raging barbs, it could be a thrill killer. For example playing on Warlord instead of Noble diff, making sure about a good start location, specifying a civ that is aggressive versus mostly all non-aggressive AI, etc.

ADDIT: Mongoose just gave me access to the DGame area, and I read through all the past polls. Sounds like quite a sweet game ya'll been putting together! Warlords! YEAH!

I don't fully understand the philosophy of a DGame, but if it were me setting up a game, if I were to have Raging Barbs I'd take it down one notch in difficulty, e.g., to Warlord's Difficulty. That I think produces a pretty fun dynamic, though the late game can be pretty easy if you've done well early on.
