The campaign period is over - Mongoose201 ran unopposed and is declared the winner by default. Congratulations, mr. President!

When the poll on naming the seats of the Senate is concluded (about 24 hours to go), we will announce the start of the Senate elections campaign period.

But I don't want to live in the mountains. They are cold. They are steep. Life is hard. You are constantly harassed by snowboarding freaks. I want the easy celtic life, whatever that is.

Not that I'm against Mongoose being President, in fact, there's probably only one or two people I would vote for instead of him (one of those people being myself ). But yeah, where in the Constitution does it say that the Supreme Court and not the people, shall decide the President of the Community?

2. The President shall be elected by the People.

Even if he was unopposed, there should've been a poll as the Constitution dictates. There are no specifications that state he automatically gets the position if unopposed... or includes that the Supreme court can predetermine the results of a election poll in such cases like this.

It was stated here in the following words:

- When the campaign period ends, on the 18th of March 2007, a Supreme Justice will announce the end of the campaign period. If, at that time, only one citizen has announced his candidacy, said citizen will then be declared, and installed as, President for the First Term.

You had ample time to complain

Whether or not I had ample time to complain doesn't determine whether it's constitutional or not. But yes, Zone, I can agree that this should have been brought up earlier. Then again, I just noticed this when I read he was elected today... at any rate, it wasn't for the Supreme Court to decide to begin with, it shouldn't have happened.

If we can have the courts argue against 51% majority polls... how much % is the court?

The Supreme Court did not decide who would be the President.

The Supreme Court did organize the elections, and as part of that organization determined that unopposed candidates would be considered elected by the people.

I don't know why 'goose was unopposed, perhaps no one thought they could win or maybe no one else was willing and able or a combination of the above. If there is only one who steps up and announces that they are willing and able, what are the other options? If we as the whole of the citizenry can't find an opposing candidate how would we find an alternative? In essence a poll would determine either to continue the DGame with Mongoose as President or abandon the game altogether. I won't be the one to put that to a vote. If the majority wishes to abandon the game, let them leave and allow the minority to continue. I apologize to the citizenry if the Supreme Court's organization of the elections violated the opportunity to elect a President by voting in a poll, though I think that those citizens that wish to see this game continue without unnessicary delays will understand.
