I think we need to look at the big picture.  We're on an island.  We're going to need a big navy, whether for defense or to project our power to other continents.  Now, the city's commerce and production capabilities are important, but it also seems to me that we need as many coastal cities as possible.  Also, as Jerm said, the copper serves no value except a few extra hammers (and possibly a future trading resource, but that means we can wait a long while before having to connect it).  Same thing applies to the gems - we've already got some, getting more will do nothing aside from providing a few extra commerce.

Again, I'm not saying that those extra commerce or hammers aren't important, just that we need to look at the big picture.  I think that a coastal city is a bigger plus than a few optional resources that can be used by a future city in this one's stead.  Sign me up for Red.

Hmmm. You've got a good point there Psweet. Switch me over to the Red.

One thing we believe in at Tyrell is going with the flow. See how my opinion waved from one direction to the next just like a flag blowing in the wind. You've got to go with the will of the best (or at least most recent) argument on the floor. Coastal cities rock!

#1 I was wondering the same thing...

#2 I was wondering the same thing...

If I'd have to choose between the two, I'd lean towards the Red X, given the points PSweet mentioned.

This is a difficult one so I would go for orange. Since we're alone on an island we need boats, lots of boats. I say we connect that copper later on. Ship ahoy!

*The madman mutters under his breath*

Yellow means caution. Red means stop.

Where's that hooded/cloaked fellow from the cave?

Sound the countdown ... 4, 3, 2, 1
Plan a city when your done.
Name it after a maiden fair,
With milk-white skin and Red-X hair.
She will born your ships and lads of lore,
For thousands of years ... and fourscore more.

Ah, but how quickly even the geekiest of us forget our sci fi fantasy roots.

FADE IN:

        EXT. HADES - DUSK

We are MOVING TOWARD the Tyrell Corporation across a
vast plain of industrialization, menacing shapes on the
horizon, stacks belching flames five hundred feet into
the sky the color of cigar ash.  The CAMERA MOVES INTO
a window in the large pyramid-shaped building.  A man
is sitting at a table.  Another man enters the room and
sits down.  The following scene is reflected in the eye
        until HOLDEN is seated.

INT. TYRELL CORPORATION INTERROGATION ROOM - DUSK

The eye is magnified and deeply revealed.  Flecks of
green and yellow in a field of milky blue.  Icy fila-
        ments surround the undulating center.

The eye is brown in a tiny screen.  On the metallic
surface below, the words VOIGHT-KAMPFF are finely
etched.  There's a touch-light panel across the top
and on the side of the screen, a dial that registers
        fluctuation of the iris.

The instrument is no bigger than a music box and sits
on a table between two men.  The man talking is big,
looks like an overstuffed kid.  LEON it says on his
breast pocket.  He's dressed in a warehouseman's uni-
form and his pudgy hands are folded expectantly in his
lap.  Despite the obvious heat, he looks very cool.

Ah, Sean Young. What a babe. They don't make replicants like her any more.
