Why can't Firaxis give us a proper AI that can actually be duped, and does not have to be simply backed into a corner? AI personalities in a pig's eye! _ALL OF THEM_ are aggressive, and expansionistic as soon as it is expedient to do so. It seems Mr Africanus has some issues with the AI and I can't say I blame him. I'm not sure I agree about the AI "personalities" though - some leaders are much less likely to attack than others (unless you are a real weakling, then they all jump on the bandwagon) Aggressive nations are actually easier to trick. Dangle a worker on plains or grassland just within movement reach of an enemy city you are assaulting and they'll send out their second-best unit to grab it, sending the worker scurrying back to the city. Result: you crush the single enemy, take the city more easily, and regain your worker. This does not work as often with less aggressive personalities. Sometimes the AI is just plain stupid, especially when under siege - for example making suicidal attacks against a huge stack or moving heavily "dug-in" troops from a city to defend a nearby mine. Who the hell programmed that in? As for seaborne invasions, well, need I say more? The AI might appear occasionally omnicient, but it is achingly dumb the rest of the time and that in itself is frustrating. I'm sure we'd all like to see a better, "fairer" AI. Has anyone else noticed the mysterious magical gold that AI nations aquire from nowhere when they're losing, for instance? (jerm and I have) Like others, however, I am sceptical about whether BTS will fix all this by improving the programming and reducing the "cheating". As for this "revolution" thing, I have a really bad feeling about the direction this is going.

Rishbhav (6/29/2007) Scip if you want good AI get the game Galactic Civilizations 2. GalCiv has perhaps the best AI I have ever seen. It begs and flatters when weak and threatens when it's strong. It can kick the stuffing out of me without any artificial aid.Sounds like a Dominatrix girlfriend. Maybe even better, cause you probably can't just flip the switch on a girlfriend. If only I actually had time to check out Galactic Civ *sigh* I've been meaning to check out Europa Universalis, and still after a year or more have not managed that . . . And yes, Nmcul, the lack of ANY semblance of 'intelligence' when it comes to naval functions in the Civ AI continues to be an annoyance.

tones (9/1/2009) I was minded to compare this site to a sort-of-private Facebook, but, on reflection, that's not right . . . Nope. Here is a forum to exchange views and discuss topics and maybe have some literary fun; post some interesting pics (not Megabits of family krap); flag up some internet sites of Interest; pass on the occasional joke. To me, (struggling for analogy here) it's bit more like a quiet and cosy pub with locals you know and the occasional visitor from "outside"; thick stone walls and a cellar full of well-kept ale. Facebook, on the other hand, is some awful massive city-centre club that serves Fosters lager. And, you know what? I am not unhappy with that analogy. I prefer the pub.
