Resources do not disappear in BTS, as far as I know. Once found, you're stuck with it.

I haven't conducted a statistical analysis but I am under the impression that on average one in every 5 full games, I get a random mining resource. Some games I've discovered several. Once I had two on the same turn, which is uncanny...

Here's a question for the floor: does it help to be working the tile? I am under the impression 'no,' but once again, I couldn't say accurately.
