So I recently started playing on Monarch level to up the challenge, and found myself playing Tokugawa. My first city had cattle, three floodplain tiles, and two gold tiles. Sweet! I think -- this'll give me a pretty good head start on money/research. I'm chugging along, sharing a continent with the greeks and the indians, and I'm noticing that I'm pulling WAY ahead of my competition up around 400 points to their 250/280. Parked a couple cottages on the flood plains early on; founded another town with ANOTHER gold hill and four flood plain tiles. Put cotteges on them, too. So I'm just crankin' out the wealth, puttin' it all in research. I'm one happy clam until I realize I'm only like 40 turns into the game and I'm able to research Philosophy in like 7 turns. Something's wrong. I save the game, and restart, paying more attention to setup. Somehow, I selected Chieftan level (2/9) instead of Monarch (6/9). Took the wind outta my sails in a jiffy. Ooops. DD
