That would be a cool test... ...but if they release a new patch then your game is stuffed... There are apparently still issues in the 3.13 version, so my guess is that yes another patch will be forthcoming . . . probably just about the time Civ 5 Beyond the Beyond . . . comes out
Jerm, Tones, Rishbav and I have finally (after two months of me having problems with home internet in my new New England residence) got our "The Next War Mod" PBEM up and running. Think we're up to about turn 7 or 9 now, after just about a week of playing? At only 200 turns, and accounting for lost days (which are inevitable) we MIGHT actually be able to finish it in a year to two years. RTW 1936 has 3 turns per month, and 9 or 10 years of play time allowed (3X12=36)*10=360 turns. Course if the allies were really effective and sneaky maybe they could bring WWII to a close earlier than in real history |

It's funny you think beating up AIs is formulaic, and then propose a pbem using a mod (that you've played quite a bit, I'm sure) AND claim for yourself the one civ in that mod that stands out as hopelessly overpowered. It's like me challenging you to a game of Fall from Heaven and insist on starting as Hyborem. Why not make it the 1939 version? That leaves Germany with less of an advantage... Besides, right now pbems should use vanilla or Warlords. You're welcome to a 2-player game (without any nasty warmongers such as Konrad and Nuke ), and can even pick yer own civ and settings and starting era and map and all that. I'll go with random. *slaps Scip across face with leather glove* Au contraire Zig frere *makes musketeer like flourish with feathered cap, unobtrusively smacking Zig in the face with the flat of his sword* 1936 is advantageous to the Germ player if it is set to Historical or Random Historical. With Open Play, clever allies should be able to repeat the errors of history. Having played it through to late 1942 against a Noble AI, I know the basics of how it works, and how incompetent the AI is. I'd just like to see how a human handles it. If folks are afraid I can understand; I did crush von Clausewitz, LC, and Psweet in the old C3C 50-turn War in the Pacific scenario *blows on fingernails and rubs them on jacket* If you think Germany is such a powerhouse, I'm happy to let you play them and take an alternate position myself. Not interested in a Vanilla or Warlords game; BTS is the way of the future, but I have to admit, the crappy patchup situation is truly annoying in this regard. Why we continue to give Patchaxis our $$ I cannot fathom . . . oh yeah, I guess I can fathom. Even with all the patchiness, their games are still cutting edge . . . I like scenarios more than random epic games, thus my interest in a PBEM with a scenario. Random epic game PBEMs are a gamble that someone gets shafted with a truly unbalanced start. But I'd be willing to try an epic game too. I'd ask for some advance start though, since the game is so infernally boring at start. Post medieval are my era(s) of choice, but pick any scenario you like, even a fan-made one which I will not have played. Nothing like knowing there are humans on the other end of the line to take advantage of your errors to put momentum in the learning curve. ADDIT: You're welcome to a 2-player game (without any nasty warmongers such as Konrad and Nuke ), and can even pick yer own civ and settings and starting era and map and all that. Not sure we ever exchanged emails. I'll send ya a PM with my email address and we can get a little duel going. |

| | Sounds like we got three players for an RTW PBEM match. If we wanted to try something a bit different, we could do this instead of having an Axis-Allies contest: Set the difficulty to something like Monarch, or one step above Monarch (not sure how insane that is . . .). The three humans then play Russia, UK, and US (or some such) . . . Obviously Open Play (not historical would be requi |
