| | Champion: Nuclearcow Greetings all.. this game for the Beyond the Sword CivIV expansion... Version: 3.13 Standard Size map with 7 Rivals Note: This is an unrestricted leaders game... Your civ is the Khmer. Your leader is:
Please note that the civs you contact will have interesting leader combinations as well. Settings:
Traits:
Start Position:
Victory Conditions All Victories have been enabled, but the only victory condition that will be recognized for this month is Space Race. As such, care should be taken that you (as well as you opponents) don't win with another victory condition before you win the Space Race. (What wonderful intrigue!) Highest Normalized Score in the accepted Victory Conditions will be declared BTS GOTM Champion for December. When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then Email your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]Dec07BTS.CivBeyondSwordSave The Email address to send the GOTM is my username @1bcciv.com ... Of course, instead of "my username" of course I mean the name I post with here at 1bc. Everyone please follow the instructions above: Post your score screenshot here in this thread and email the save to me. This makes it easier to determine how everyone stands and what the current standard is scorewise if I get held up in the verification of save files. Thanks. What are the rules? The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.
This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.
Cheating includes (and is not limited to): - Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
- Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
- Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
- Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.
Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.
Good Luck all... |

| | I prolly could uninstall the fan-patch for Road to War . . . but then THAT scenario and mod wouldn't work right! Moreover, I'd _probably_ have to uninstall and re-install the entire thing! Our PBEM with Rish, me, Jerm, and Tones is chugging along, and I'm having fun with other stuff for now, so I think I'll just leave well enough alone for a few months and opt out of the GOTMS for a while. And see this is another thing! If we all upgrade to the new patch, our PBEM will likely be kapoot, and to finish it is probably gonna take us a year or two. In the long-run, Civ4 has the potential to be a truly wonderful game with virtually infinite possibilities. But in the short run it is fraught with bugs, unrealism, major obstacles to modding (graphics too advanced) and constant patching. I guess they got their money outta me so I'm on my own now eh? Well we'll see how enthusiastic I am to buy another Sid/2K/Firaxis game where they promise the sun the stars and the moon, and even make a convincing case that they'll give it to ya. There are other fish in the sea . . . |

| Crap, my game crashed to desktop last night. When I looked in the autosaves list, there were NO saves of the GOTM at all. It just had old .savs from my FFH game. That mod uses a different year count (1, 2, 3...) and apparently those .savs do not get overwritten.[/sigh]
I was trying something new (to me), and was doing pretty well. Five very decent cities, one in the heart of my neighbor's land, claiming 3 very useful resources. I made some mistakes (like settling my third city out of the way just to get bronze even though I already had iron hooked up; or placing my fifth city where it just missed out on 2 dyes (a curse on those blue suggestion circles and the fools that heed them)) but was building up my military to correct them. Almost had the great library, and my cap was ready to work cottages and pump out great scientists, to zoom even further ahead. Bah, all gone.
I may play a shadow game and see how far wonderbuilding can get me without the industrious trait, but I may also just go back to my FFH game. Either way, no stripes for me... |
