Guys,

You may or may not have noticed I have held off posting a new C3C GotM recently.

(Well, since it's now the 21st and no-one has posted about it, I assumed no-one has noticed)

I would be interested to hear if there is any demand for another game.

I'm open to ideas - shall I run a longer game - e.g. quarterly - or is everyone onto Civ4 now and not really interested anymore.

I'd like at least 3-4 people to express serious interest else there's not much point really.

Otherwise, I'd like to thank everyone who has played the games I've put up over the last 18 months or so, hope you enjoyed them

Cheers,
Dave

Im certainly interested but it doesnt seem anyone else is.  Ive tried to switch over to civ4 and cant find the same enjoyment.  I can understand however that there is much less interest here in civ3.  I had been checking in to see if any gotms had been posted but did not comment because it makes sense with the response level.

Maybe if you did it quarterly it would be better.  The only problem there is that some people seemed to quit if the startup wasnt exactly what they wanted so it may be tough if you have to wait 3 months for the next one if you dont like the one youve got.  Either way, I dont know the answer...

C3C is a great game. But I've played SOO many times, and I have a busy job, and Civ4 still has that 'new toy at Xmas feeling' to it . . . at least a bit.

If there was one that used scenarios or something I might be somewhat more likely to play. Or if someone 'made' maps (which could mean random generated but adjusted by the human) then I'd be somewhat more likely to play.

But just random epic maps: I don't think I'd be very likely to play myself.

Ok... so looks like we have 2 definites to play. If we can find someone to build a map or scenario then Scip would play too.

Hey if someone else made the map then even I could play! It would just mean I couldn't review the submissions until I'd submitted mine...

Here is what I'm thinking:

standard C3C V1.22
Monarch
Standard sized map, or large at a push
Usual number of AIs, "randomly" chosen by the map builder - since there is that Inca/Aztec/Maya bug if you use true random.
Random(?) civ for player, chosen by map builder.
All victory types except for Wonder and Diplo (those suck!)

I'd give us until end of March to complete it? is that too long?

Cheers

If you select "random" when you choose your opponents, you will ALWAYS end up with the American civs, Leo.

As for my own participation, I really would like to see it continue, but I have to be honest with myself here - I just don't have time. All the same, I'd be sad to see it go.

*boggles*

I never knew that.  Wow.  So I can still learn things about the game.

Having issues getting the game to run.  It flickers, splits my screen, then blacks the screen and aborts.

I cannot find my original Civ 3 disk at all or I'd simply reinstall.

I haven't played Conquests since summer of 2005...wow

Okay so I tried KeepRes=1, no go.

The game is on my D drive..used to be my C drive long ago.  Any ideas on making it work other than running out to buy a game I've bought already?

well, if you cant play but want to contribute you could always create the game instead...
