Also known as the HQ of Konrad von Richtmark, Fabricator-Generalissimo of the Omegan Military-Industrial Complex, this shall be my hangout during my rule, as well as any time I feel like it. This is where I will post status reports, war plans, and consult my fellow despots on matters of state during my rule. As well as host wild parties

I just played my first turn. I increased the research rate so we'll have engineering in one turn, and civil service in four more. A caravel finished in Tones Tuna Town was sent westwards; in a turn we'll have another in Mushroom City which will be sent eastwards. Soon we'll find out if the world really is round as our kooky scientists claim.

A few questions to my predecessors:

First, what cunning plan will Viktor Griph be used for? I have no idea of how to properly use Great Spies, I'll just do what you intended him for.

Second, what is this bollocks?

We have an abundance of commerce cities already. Commerce cities can be built anywhere, but industrial cities require both plenty of hills and food production squares. This city has both, at least as soon as we'll get to irrigate the grasslands (which will happen soon, as civil service is on the way).

Can someone tell me how to add, remove or change these notes put on the map?

Please note my comments on Aksum in my thread:

I see great potential for Aksum to have decent production AND commerce, but it will take a while for the city to grow, once we get civil service, we should be able to waltz a farm or two over there, put mines on all the hills and cottage the rest. As such, I have switched production in that city from library to granary, to help that city grow faster.

I have noted the same thing, I just didn't bother to change the tag. If you want to change the tag, I believe that you used the "Alt-S" function, and then just click on whatever tile you want to modify.

As for Viktor, I'm not to sure about spies either. But there ARE two spies in a galley heading towards Oporto. Let the galley sit there for 5 turns, and then you should use the spies to try and steal technology. If you let the spies sit there in the galley for 5 turns, they a) won't be detected, and b) will get a huge discount on spy points used for stealing the techies.

Perhaps just plant him in the Portuguese capitol? The espionage pts we'll get for him will help the lesser spies to steal technology from them, right?

Whoa....!  Before you go planting Victor anywhere, he was being saved for use against Alpha when we find them.  We planned on putting him on [one of] the first Caravel[s] and getting him on Alpha's continent to first explore and second plant in a city so we can... well... spy on them.  Victor is a Great Spy not just a spy.  Spies are dispensible while Great Spies are not.  They cannot be discovered like regular spies.  Why waste him on a civ that we're about to destroy anyway.  He is much more valuable to be used against our real rival, Alpha.  There was talk of trying to land him on one of Alpha's neighbor's and then crossing the border via land so there would be no chance of Alpha sinking the first caravel they see.

You're the boss of course and if you decide to plant him in Portugal... well it's your firing squad .

Ok, Alpha it is then. I won't let a caravel wait on him, we really want that circumnavigation done bloody fast, but I'll put him on the third caravel we get. Should I plant him in their capitol, or just use him as a mobile invisible scout?

There is no hurry to get Viktor to Alpha so the third caravel should be fine. This should also give us a chance to explore a bit and determine the best dropping-off point. Great Spies cannot be detected or killed EXCEPT by being sunk. He should be used to scout Omegan lands (with complete invisibility and zero chance of detection) then used in an "infiltration" mission in any of their cities - it doesn't matter at all which one as there are no penalties or bonuses to be earned/avoided as with regular spies. This should give us something like 4000 ep's against them (as jerm rightly says this would be more or less a complete waste against Portugal)

Second, what is this bollocks?

That'll be yer reg'lar Zigeneur bollocks that In all fairness, I did ask him to put flags on what he thought each city should be for so that there was some sort of continuity of action between leaders. That doesn't mean you can't change the flags according to your own style/strategy/whim.

An alternative method of changing flags (and deleting those stupid and outdated green lines) is to zoom out to the clouds and activate the strategy layer button.

He should be used to scout Omegan lands

Do we have a double agent on our hands here?

By first boat, I just meant as soon as possible.  No need to delay a ship's discovery just to accomodate a single unit, especially when more ships are being built.

I must say, I'm a bit excited about the prospect of finding Alpha soon.  It should make the game much more interesting... not that it isn't now but right now, it's just a dynasty game against the AI.

Oh, I thought you meant in the figurative sense; after all, all the world belongs to us
