If you are going to grovel, at least do it properly. Here, polish my iron boots! Or better yet, think of a properly Omegan name to our draft city, which currently goes under the silly name "Gondar".

Speaking of that, we'll need a whole list of proper names, if we are going to rename all of Portugal in the way we did with Korea.

BREAKING NEWS! WE'VE SPOTTED LAND ON THE HORIZON!
On both horizons, actually:

I opened borders with Ragnar of the Vikings. Judging from his feeble score, my educated guess is that they are being gobbled up by the Alphans. However, the turquoise colour next to the Vikings shows that there is another civ close by, intact as well. But then, one could almost deduct from the points difference between Alpha and us that they haven't overthrown their neighbours quite as diligently as we have.

Anyways, both caravels will sail south and attempt to link up somewhere at the southmost point of the continent; or at least intersect each others' paths to prove that the world is round.

By the way, I made the most fascistic, dictatorial decision to change our research patch unilaterally. We're going for Astronomy. It will give us an instant cash boost to be able to trade overseas, especially as our trade routes to Portugal are very soon to be history. Contrary to Banking, which would require us to build the bloody things; and at the time, we have a Grand Army to build.

The world is flat and two dimensional! What heresy is this?! Those poor sailors are doomed to fall off the edge.

Well, as you can see from the minimap, one of our caravels already went over the edge of the world, but found itself mysteriously teleported to the other edge.

Would it be worth considering gifting any civ we meet on Alpha's continent all of our tech?  Why not make it harder for them to kill them?  It would also give us a big diplomatic boost with those nations.  There may be some obvious downsides of course.  Perhaps we'd rather attack one of their neighbors so we get a base to attack from, in which case the above idea should be scrapped.

Also, should we maybe try sailing one ship north and the other south?  That way we see more of what's going on without having to go over familiar coastline.  IIRC you just have to meet up on the same longitude but not necessarilly connect your "view" in order to get circumnavigation.

Good choice in going for Astronomy.

Addit:  Um, can we trade maps with Ragnar?

We can't trade maps with Ragnar yet. We will shortly, as Portugal is 2 turns away from researching paper, and our two spies are aboard the galley and on the way for another round of tech-stealing.

Propping up the neighbours of Alpha is just what I was about to suggest too, but I don't remember "No tech brokering" to have been selected. Rather, I think we should give them all the tech which Alpha already has researched. That way we prop them up without giving them anything to give Alpha, and it also diminishes Alpha's chances of tech trade.

Even with tech brokering on, the techs would still be available for spies.

I'm most interested in alpha's tech situation. Pity I'm off on a journey around the globe. I'll try to visit here once or twice though.

When did we research teleportation? Sounds bloody useful to me

Looks like we might just win the circumnavigation race which will be handy, and another blow to Alphan morale. Astronomy was a good choice for research too. I hope the tech-gifting wheeze doesn't occur to the Alphans before we have dealt with Portugal though.

I would be very careful with this. This may give alpha an oppertunity to catch up to us being able to trade for those techs or even steal them. We need to get more information about the situation of alpha and the other civs before making such a drastic decision.

Edit: I think we should get Victor to the other side of the ocean now that we have information of the whereabouts of team alpha. Let's get our Great Spy in alphas lands. It would also be worth it to put a spy on a caravel and start annoying alpha.

Another note, put all spy points on alpha!

Edit2: did we make contact with alpha? Can we see how which techies they have?
