But you deliberately had to conclude that he is irrational. Is it unthinkable to you that he is simply honestly mistaken?

-You usually are honestly mistaken when you're irrational.

What I rather meant was, is it unthinkable to you that a rational person could be mistaken, that two rational persons could come to opposite conclusions? Or that circumstances, such as insufficient knowledge of the subject at hand, could make a rational person make an erroneous conclusion?

Admittedly, it seems a bit fishy that the same guy is engaged in two entirely separate fields which are connected only by the way they are hot issues for American Christian Neocons. Admittedly, the way he thinks ID is a scientific theory suggests that the difference between science and metaphysics is unclear to him.

-No, though an honestly mistaken person could be irrational it does not follow that a rational person could not be honestly mistaken. But then again, I have not argued against that either.

It is not at all suprising that you feel that way Rk, but I think I'll look at what NASA and the University of Alabama Huntsville think of his ability to reason.

You usually are honestly mistaken when you're irrational.

...or when you don't have all the facts or are missing something.  Actually, I think that most of the time people are honestly mistaken, it's not because they're irrational.  That statement seems to be actually rather irrational when I think about it... but that just creates all sorts of time warps and wormholes doesn't it?

Anyway, anyone care to discuss his arguments (global warming, not ID) or are we just going to keep taking cheap shots at his credibility?

-In case you didn't read my last post; I'm not saying that if you're mistaken then you're irrational. Neither am I saying that if you're rational then you're never mistaken, etc. What I'm saying is that this single individual is irrational because of his inability to correctly judge evidence due to personal bias.

Anyway, anyone care to discuss his arguments (global warming, not ID) or are we just going to keep taking cheap shots at his credibility?

-Pick someone else, if his data and conclusions are correct then they will likely be reiterated by everyone else.

Well, y'all are debating rationality versus irrationality, which way is up, which is down. Down is up, and up is down, left is right and right is left. I just got my PhD, so that is supposed to confer upon me great wisdom, but honestly, y'all are just making my head hurt with all that talk!
