Totally guessing on the day again.  I know its been at least a couple more days for healing from the last attack.  Maybe 3.  So day 8 sounds reasonable.

Kyoto came in sight as our army moved south west.  We *could* move it up and be in position to attack Kyoto, but I'd prefer to keep it moving southwest and take out whatever city is there.  Do you guys agree?  There must be one there because of the culture border.

Well, since Konrad returned the turn immediately and I was here too, I ordered our armies to the south west, as I wondered if maybe the city was on the ivory there.

We bombard away next turn.

Also, this occurred the previous turn:

I think the 1st vote will be to stop everyone (meaning, the Japanese) from trading with Omega.

Glory to Alpha!

Glory indeed!

It will be nice to be able to out vote our whole island (Japanese) into an Omegan embargo.

And it looks as though Chemistry and Tokyo will soon both be ours!!! I guess we want to take stock of our situation after that, what's our economy looking like?

...Also the Dave coast will finally be able to grow if it can get its hands on those crabs!!

We have Astronomy now. I have not ordered any galleons of our own as we have just 5 turns for chemistry and then all our coastal cities should start cranking out frigates then.

We are at 50% science, I believe, and making 100 gold a turn. It was the same number of turns as the science % one position higher on our slider. It might be a good idea to keep a little cash in reserve to emergency upgrade units in case Omega lands on our shores. But, with Omega out-spying us, they could steal our treasury if it gets too high. I would recommend we upgrade SOMETHING somewhere every time we have over 500 gold. What do you guys think?

Artymus, you will be in the presidential rotation momentarily as I'll be at work the next few days, so thats up to you, sir, and our democracy of course.

I traded Astronomy for Philosophy with the Vikings. It was a very lopsided trade, but I would recommend we do the exact same when we have chemistry, so they can harass Omegan ships as well. Maybe even GIVE them chemistry. What do you guys think?

2 trebuchets lost, and another city taken (Tokyo).

We are still doing well financially (banks and apothecaries built in most cities), so lets keep pressing onward! I think we should wipe Japan out, since Omega has taken it upon them to feed them techs.

Omega is blockading 2 of our cities, which is making them lose population. HURRY UP FRIGATES!!!

Top job here guys!

Yeah why not go for kyoto and really cripple the Japanese.

I agree with the "Cash for Upgrades" theory - lets use it before we lose it.

May I suggest we build a spy in each city at some point in the future, to at least make Omega's job harder with espionage?

Yep let's keep the vikings up on tech. They can't be a threat to us, and it pays to keep them from being a weak target for Omega. We can just steamroller the Vikings once there are no more Japanese cities on our continent.

Let's just keep cranking out the defenders, so Omega don't try and capture our newly acquired cities. Or even the old ones for that matter...

Our main force is marching north towards Kyoto as we speak!

Also a minor Japanese counter attack (8 or so strong) on Cowtown, sparked by the incursion of some of our troops into their territory there, has required some of our reserves from behind the front line to be drawn forward. But, with the initial loss of our small (3 or 4 strong) brigade, we have taken the threat out of this attack with no extra losses. Their solitary trebuchet now feebily bombards our city as we gather behind the walls to finish off what remains.

The upshot of this is that half of the Kyoto garrison left the city to join this ill fated mission. So we now have a severly weakened defence to contend with.

That's a good idea on the spies. I have commenced a spy training program and will distribute to various cities, 1 turn to build helps! Omega are now on 4039/640 ish, so I figure they can definately watch our research progress and maybe even see some of our cities... we need a great spy of our own!!

I'm not a huge proponent of spies. If they poison our water or forment unhappiness, etc, etc... its short lived and I'd rather we spend the time that we'd build a spy, for a knight or a ship, or something like that. Instead of 5 spies, we could have 5 knights, which could take a city. Know what I mean? Or have naval superiority instead.

Maybe stick one in our capital, and one on both coastlines where they might drop one off, but I wouldn't build more than 3 myself. If it was a single player game, I'd probably put one in our capital and thats it.

Just my 2 cents in this democracy.

The relative cheapness of the spies means that 5 of them only equate to about 1 or 1.5 knights in our main cities (except for Princep who can fast track the knights in 2 turns )

And, although we just bagged a spy (but don't know who's) this turn:

...new developments mean the defensive spy program has been cancelled anyway with immediate effect!
