Can you elaborate on the "control side?" What do you mean by that? Is that a program?

Can somebody translate that into techie?

You have Two user accounts in windows, one for controlling the computer's installs, and such, and one "locked" down to protect both the machine, and the users from each other, and somehow something snuck past that, and installed, but wont uninstall?  hmmm.

I'm making an assuption that the program needs admin rights on that user to be removed for some silly reason?  Should be able to take the program out from the control side but...  I have seen some stubborn stuff.  Might have some sort of malware attached to it that is re-installing every time you remove it...

If its something that refuses to install, you might want to try some anti-spyware program as Aintmyprob suggests. There are several out there that would do the trick.

Here's a link to Ad-aware, which might be the most popular out there. Its free.

Several others would work as well.

If we're off-base and you were referring to something completely unrelated, please explain a bit more.

I just read it again with Aintmyprob's suggestion in mind. So, is this correct...? Do you have 2 user accounts on your PC, and one is the one you sign on with and one is the one your daughter signs on with? And you cannot remove the Myspace IM from your side. Is that all correct? hehe.

Assuming you have a PC with Windows, you should be able to change her password from your admin account (control panel and "user accounts"), which will undoubtedly make her mad at you, but then you could sign onto her userid with your newly changed password and remove it from there.

I have 5 daughters with the oldest being 12. I'm afraid for myself stating in a couple of years.

Go to the start button, and click on the Control Panel. Then to "Add or Remove programs." This should bring up the list of programs you can uninstall.

Scroll down until you find the Myspace IM one (whatever its called) and select it. You should then be able to click on REMOVE and hopefully it will go away.

If this works, then thats all you need to do. If you try this and it comes back with an error saying that you need admin rights to perform this, you will have to do this from the admin account. Same steps performed, but from the admin account.

Hope that helps, Val.

It appears that you and your daughters have a auto log in to the user side. You need to log out and log back in as admin. to delete the program.

I will assume that you have XP, caus if you got vista you be in big trouble as a novice.

In xp go to start>control panel> user accounts open user accounts and copy the name of admin.

log off and log back in as whatever admin's user name is, you will need the password also.

you should be good to go at this point.

I am sorry ... but if you do not know, or do not have, the admin password it would be best to take it to a shop and pay them to clear your accounts and set up new ones for you. You can do it yourself but a mistake could land you in deep water ... windos is unforgiving if you err ... sometimes to the point of "format c:" being the only way out.

I also suggest a cheep investment in a windos for dummies book ... They have refreshed my mind more than a few times.
