I recently edited gamespeed info so that each turn lasts 1 year only, so I can play a game with 6050 turns ( ). However, I now would like to also do one more thing:

1. Change the dates that eras advance, So for example, change when we go from the Ancient Era to the Classical Era.

I've alreayd gone through the different files in gameinfo and I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome!

I thought that Era changes were governed by when you discovered a certain tech, rather than a certain year?

I think the Civilopedia or tech tree would be able to help you find which ones...

Hope this helps

I looked through the tech tree but all I could find was information relating to the era in which the tech could be research. Also, I've noticed that the Era advancement occurs around a certain year or time, rather than a certain tech, so I'm almost certain that it's the year, not the tech, which defines it.

Are you talking about Civ3 or Civ4?

Because in Civ4, it's technology that dictates the era advancements.. For example, I believe researching Iron Working brings on the Classical Era.

I am sure that it is techs that govern the era that you are in, not the actual date...because that would be pointless.  The only reason the eras of the real world changed, is because of the technologies that were found...the leaders of the world didn't get together and have meetings to say...well...because it is the year 500 AD, I think we should change the era just for kicks...

Hmm, that's odd. I was sure it was date, because I always seem to advance at the same time...

I guess I'll play a marathon game and do some notetaking.

its the tech that advance you it tells you in the civpedia entry which ones.

the reason you see t round a certain date in your games is that you maybe tend to research in a certain order that over that time frame
