tones (5/11/2008) C'mon jerm. Surely you remember our first pbem? Raging barbs is manic, but once you're over "the hump" they are manageable. It was more than a little sadistic to disallow the Great Wall however. All the raging barbs fun is wasted if the Great Wall is enabled. All you would have to do is beeline for the Great Wall (which would be easy to acheive if you knew you had to) and all the barbarian goodness goes for naught!

It's funny. I do so much better in PBEM's. In regular games I tend to not think about things as much (probably cause I have no time to play then). In "our game" we were playing Vanilla so no GW anyway. I also had my capital on the coast so I only had one front to worry about, not 4. Obviously it's possible to get over the hump, just a lot harder this go for me. Something like 6 units per turn were spawning out of the Fog. I might try this again just for fun.

Just found this forum, not played civilization for a good while now but I intend to get back into it shortly and hopefully have a bash at this challange! Will be rusty so will probably fail but worth a shot!

Well, I have started this and progressed quite a bit today, I have managed to survive when at one point I was sure to be toast. Still struggling a bit with the control of the barbarians, just managing to keep my 2 towns, everyone else seems to be struggling too though as my position seems to be fluctuating somewhat! Just need a bit of luck and I will be able to progress better. Keeping that Iron resource is key!

fighting hard tho i think im over the worst of the barbs, even did alot of expanding during the attacks which i think helped me survive. the worlds begining to fill up a bit now tho an im in last place due to killing my economy and not being able to improve my lands till i was better settled. if i can pull back a decent cash flow il do great end game with my current land area im just over extended very nice game this month
