I just found out, mid-game, that you can't get a cultural win if you have enough votes to win the elections on your own. Go figure.

You mean diplomatic win, right Konrad? Nice Jerk, thanks for posting your score and "welcome!" to the boards! The scores on this game seem to be quite a bit lower than normal. I think a much lower score might take it this month.

I tried to load this but got a message 'Cannot load version 301, expected version 300 or lower' I guess this is a patching issue - please tell me where I can download the correct update or if it something else help!

Are you using version 3.13? That is the latest version and the one used for this game. If not you can get the latest beyond the sword patch here: v3.13 Ok the best thing happened for me in this game, I built the pyramids in AD 1460!! Anybody else build an ancient wonder as late as this? The settings for this one of course and the fact that nobody else seemed too bothered made that possible. But I thought it was pretty cool to be about to research the Printing Press and have built both the Sistine Chapel and Notre Dame before starting construction of the Pyramids!

Yeah, diplomatic victory.

Finally made it in 1865. Had to spam Jewish missionaries into any foreign city I could reach, just to decrease my own voting power. After feeding them with resources, gifting them techs, helping them out against the Romans and liberating their cities, I finally managed to bribe the Celts to vote for me as Chief Rabbi of the World.

Heh, at the rate I'm playing I should be finished by June 1, 2009. I've decided on some method to this madness, but it's just horrible that there is no coast or neighbor in sight to block off some points of entry. I wonder if a sadist came up with the idea...
