I'll start.
The biggest, most glaring thing to me between the 2 teams was the amount of players who could play regularly. In hindsight, maybe we should have discussed this before we started playing as teams might have been divided up a bit better. It was shocking to see us struggling early on (and often afterwards) to find a President at times. lol. As we mentioned a few times, its ironic to think that some dirty, filthy Omegans might have joined their team because they might have thought they would have more playing time. We had to "tag team" several times because we didn't have anyone around to play that whole term without major delays. So, thats my 1st thought.
2nd thought. I'll take some extra responsibility on this fault. Our civilization choice of the Persians was instigated and pushed heavily by me. I think with this choice of civ, we should have had hamlets all over the place and been leading in tech at an early age. We didn't, and... well, we didn't. hehe. If we did this, we could have made up for a few bad decisions here or there. I think this could have been our huge advantage over dirty Omegans, but we didn't push it and to look at the land prior to nuking, we had several cities that should have been loaded with hamlets.
3rd thought. We weren't very aggressive. We should have crushed our neighbors long before meeting Omega. We could have made up for the warmongering costs with hamlets in #2 above.
Glancing at Omega's forums a few minutes ago (didn't read much though) it did seem to me that they had spelled out some goals as a team and talked a lot about it while doing it. Perhaps the lack of this on our parts is due (at least somewhat) to the number of players who could play. I believe I only once looked at saves when other presidents were playing. Regardless of the reasons, we didn't do it nearly as much as we probably should have.
Any other thoughts? Critiques?

Yeah, no kidding.

We were absolutely benefiting from the financial trait and I was actually thankful we went with the Persians mid-late game, however, the farms were indeed overused. I was reading in the Omegan forums where they were even wondering what that was about. We scored big with the Pyramids being created so early on and being able to benefit from the bonuses with Representation. Full fledged Towns in the late game could've been great. We're definetly going to have to make sure that in the next game we don't repeat this mistake.
3rd thought. We weren't very aggressive. We should have crushed our neighbors long before meeting Omega. We could have made up for the warmongering costs with hamlets in #2 above.
Apparently from what I've read, the Omegans had taken out their Korean neighbors early on and by the time they met up with us, they were in the process of taking out their last AI neighbor the Portuguese. I now feel if we would've been as zealous in taking out the Japanese when we first declared war, we could've been on the same if not better footing.
However, I'm going to share the blame when it came to my term, I really believe I could've been more aggressive in a more constructive manner after we acquired Combustion and begun the upgrading spree to destroyers. Instead of my emphasis on more destroyers to attack and provoke theirs, I sincerely believe it could've been better time spent working on transports to use our number of land units to our advantage and stacking the current destroyers. The entire Eastern Ocean appears to have been bear in my impressions.
I also took a swing by Megaton for the heck of it before the surrender, it had one Galleon and Rifleman to defend it. I really gave myself a face palm after seeing that.

I was looking through their forums and found myself envious of the amount of information that was floating around it. We were never horrible when it came to making posts concerning what was going on, however, there was never much intensive discussion and instead more "good to hear," keep up the good work stuff. I'm really going to be keen on making discussion and setting up goals next game.
In addition to the above, there's one major thing I felt could've been fixed early on. Despite being terribly overshadowed in the espionage department, we had every free specialist given by mercantilism as engineers. I'm just as guilty for not fixing it during my presidency but in the next game, I think that +4 espionage in our cities collectively is going to do us far more then the hammers.

I really gave myself a face palm after seeing that. You are both right and wrong. I think you would all have been open-mouthed in astonishment at how poor our home defense forces were for the majority of the game. There were some BIG cites being defended by a lone archer!! But, thing is, jerm started, and I further developed, a ship-tracking system so we knew where 99% of anybody's shipping was at any time, and we had full confidence in our espionage. Had you started galleon-building that would have triggered a response. When you did finally start transport building, that of course triggered a response from Konrad of the most powerful kind. We also knew you were going to upgrade those ironclads and build destroyers. But the eastern ocean wasn't empty - far from it. Our navy was huge, and fast, with a repair base at Treasure Island. I honestly believe, Bis, that any attempt to transport your army to attack us at Treasure Island would have been doomed. I would estimate we had about 75% of our entire (modern) land army based there in the certain knowledge that we would win any race on the sea if we had to transport them elsewhere. So more aggression from you at that point would probably have resulted in greater losses. The single most terrible thing you could have done (and a lot earlier than the combustion era) would have been to sneak off a couple of loaded galleons to our homeland, but we made that as difficult to achieve as we possibly could. I think the war was lost a long time before this particular term.

[3rd thought. We weren't very aggressive. We should have crushed our neighbors long before meeting Omega. We could have made up for the warmongering costs with hamlets in #2 above.] NC NUFF SAID! *returns to darken booth in corner to finalize plans for the over throw of the Omegan pestilence. * "Lads, I put forth the idea that we break away. Start a NEW ALPHA. There must be lands out there. When we have built a new army, we shall return and reclaim our homeland!!! We'll be Barbarian's!!! ARF!!!" [This may be a ticky-tacky thing, but I was pretty proud of our screen shots and updates, which were key to some of our members who didn't have BTS and was good to keep each other up to date. I believe this kept up some team-like feelings amongst the non-players, but I could be wrong. You're right, Biz... maybe we did too much "keep up the good work" postings and not enough of mentioning goals.] NC NO, your right! If not for the screen shots and the trouble taken to provide the information, I would have felt left out and would have lost interest. One of the things I can plus Alpha for, is making it pretty easy for non-BTS owners or players, to remain involved. A couple of times screen shots were not getting posted and I admit feeling at a loss to help. But it was quickly corrected. Thanks for not allowing the game to become a 1bc BTS "click". It could have been, but then it wouldn't be 1bc then would it? [You are both right and wrong. I think you would all have been open-mouthed in astonishment at how poor our home defense forces were for the majority of the game. There were some BIG cites being defended by a lone archer!!] TONES I just knew their pants were down at home!
