Of course, you know, Senator Kennedy has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, after suffering from a seizure. Save the jokes, ladies and gentlemen.

Senator Kennedy has Malignant Brain Tumor

Sen. Barack Obama, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, described Kennedy as a "giant" of the Senate.

"I think you can argue that I would not be sitting here as a presidential candidate had it not been for some of the battles that Ted Kennedy has fought," Obama told CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

"He is somebody who battled for voting rights and civil rights when I was a child. I stand on his shoulders," said Obama, who was waiting for the results of primaries in Kentucky on Tuesday. Video Watch Obama discuss Kennedy's legacy »

Sen. Hillary Clinton, who is also competing for the Democratic nomination, said Kennedy's courage and resolve made him one of the greatest legislators in Senate history.

"He's a fighter. There isn't anybody like him who gets up and goes out and does battle on behalf of all of us every single day," Clinton said Thursday. "I know he's a fighter when it comes to the challenges he's facing right now."

Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican who is the GOP's presumptive presidential nominee, also offered his thoughts and prayers for Kennedy's family.

"I have described Ted Kennedy as the last lion in the Senate. And I have held that view because he remains the single most effective member of the Senate," McCain said from his campaign bus, the Straight Talk Express, in Florida.

I sometimes wonder if there is a Gypsy somewhere gloating on her deeds.  The Kennedy Family seems to be cursed with very traumatic ends.  I'm going to ask this, then run like hell.  Maybe now we can have our Government back from the Monarchy?

He does have my hopes for a long life.  Still remember Chaddaquitic.

LMAO

Sometimes a misspelling is just priceless.

I think you mean Chappaquiddick ... Chaddaquitic is a type of neck brace ... or a company that makes neck braces? I forget which ... but then a pain in the neck is what I was thinking of.

I wish Teddy well as a person.

I still think the best ever campaign rhetoric was
"Ted Kennedy for president ... let him do for America what he did for Mary Jo Kopechne."

lol we were thinking along similar lines but yes I hope he's going to be alright.

I actually blogged about something similar once. It seems like when someone is dying or has died, people seem to want to pretend feelings they never had. What does that say about us? Are we hypocrite's or is it human nature to have compassion for people we once disliked?

Yes.

Along those same lines, this pertains to just about every other field, including entertainers. John Lenin? Kurt Cobain? Heath Ledger's death will probably make this new Batman movie a monster monetary hit, regardless of how good it is. I'm sure we can think of more examples, but you're right, I think.

It was completely unintentional!

Another to add to the list of "proper" posting,  MAKE SURE YOU ARE WELL RESTED!

I've heard that Ted Kennedy and GWB are (or were) friends.  I think Ted and family used to go over to the White House for movie night in the early days of the presidency.  This was true with Reagan and Tip O'Neill who'd have drinks together.  If we let politics influence how we personally feel about someone... well, it won't be good okay.

That is definitely true. I refuse to talk about it with people I have just met, and are getting along with. I grew up in a household where the discussion of politics made everyone miserable. So time from time I have definitely let it cloud my judgment of someone. But I have noticed recently that it's easier to just say I don't agree and change the subject. I don't like losing friends because they don't agree with me on something.
