Game Complete:

Champion - Carlucas: New World Population - 18,684,000

Nuclearcow: New World Population - 4,525,000

anfieldrapper - New World Population: 1,217,000

Greetings all... We are going to shake things up a bit this month..

Version: 3.13

The map is Standard with 6 civs total.

Your Civ is Spain... Your Leader (unrestricted) is:

Settings:

Your Start Position:

SPECIAL VICTORY CONDITIONS

All Victories have been enabled for this game, but NONE of them will be accepted.

This is a Terra map, meaning that all civs (Human and AI) start in one area, leaving a whole other "New World" open to barbarians until it is settled by the civs from the "Old World".

To achieve victory in this game, you must colonize the New World.

There are a few different conditions, so take note...

The winner of the game will be the player with the highest population in the New World at the end of your turn in 1850AD while also meeting the following conditions:

A: You must not have a negative cash flow with at least 60% of your economy allocated between any combination of research, culture, or espionage. You may not "build" gold/cash in any city build menu to help break even. Also, you must not have more than one merchant specialist in any city.

B: You cannot allow one of your cities in the Old World (or New for that matter) to be taken by either an AI civ or Barbarians. Cities that you conquer yourself also count against this.. You must hold any conquered city.

C: You must not trigger another victory condition before 1850.

If you do not meet the above criteria, your save will be disqualified.

Now, to determine the population of your cities in the New World, open the city screen and hold the cursor over the city name in the top middle of the screen:

The population will show... Add the population in all your New World cities for your score.

How's that for a change of pace?

When you get to 1850AD, add you population in the New World and post it in the GOTM thread and then Email your final save (1850AD) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]June08BTS.CivBeyondSwordSave

The Email address to send the GOTM is my username @1bcciv.com ... Of course, instead of "my username" of course I mean the name I post with here at 1bc.

Submissions will be accepted until the end of June.

Everyone please follow the instructions above: Post your New World Population here in this thread and email the save to me. This makes it easier to determine how everyone stands and what the current standard is scorewise if I get held up in the verification of save files. Thanks.

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

  1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
  2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
  3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
  4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Wow, that's a different spin on things...

Not sure if I'll be able to get to this one before my holiday, but I'll see what I can do.

You may not "build" gold/cash in any city build menu to help break even.

What, you mean throughout the entire game? That's mad.

You can use it earlier in the game, but it cannot be used in your 1850AD save. The important issue is to have a positive cash flow at 60% economic allocation in 1850AD without the aid of using cities to "pick up the slack".

Ah ha. Thanks for clearing that up.

Ah NOW! This is BS!!

That is like the 3rd or 4th time I've had an archer or chariot unit get killed by a freakin barb warrior!

Must be why I play mods. Combat in the vanilla game is always slanted toward the human going on the defensive . . .
