Submission Accepted:

anfieldrapper - New World Population: 1,217,000

He also did this without using any merchant specialists to reach his 60% economic allocation while breaking even. (+2 gpt)

Excellent score, sir...

wow, this game was so intense for me.

The plan was to have a peaceful game and race to astronomy to get some settlers to the new world. Things turned out quite differently.

I was the top dog but about 500AD my neighbour India declared war on me; bah. I just build a nice stack of war elephants so I destroyed 2 of his cities and kept one. At that time I was actually considering to take India out and capture Dehli. Things were looking fantastic until Montezuma back stabbed me. He had an insane amount of units and all the land I conquered were taken back. The AI is really funny; he gave back one of India's old towns that I took to India.

At that time it was not clear whether I would actually live at 1850AD. It was time for the battle of Barcelona.

Montezuma had about 40 units right outside of Barcelona with siege weapons, axemen, horse archers and more. It was a massacre but I managed to take out the entire stack but it was close, really close.

Just before I could start building a few settlers and galleons Montezuma back stabbed me again and managed to get every one in a huge massive battle against my forces. I did the best I could but I simply could not stop him. He threw about 100 units into my area and also India was having a SOD inside my area. It could be game over but he did not push through most likely because of the insane amout of war weariness he must have experienced. His cities were dying.

He captured 2 cities, India took one and I managed to get peace with Montezuma. Now I was able to throw all my forces at India's SOD. In the end of the war I had 4 cities left but I did send out my settlers and units to go to 'The new world'.

I did not calculate my score but I have 8 cities with about 9-10M people. I was still ahead concerning techies but I have no idea if I would actually have won this game. Tomorrow I will calculate my real score. It was fun!

I think you are out of the challenge as the rules said

B: You cannot allow one of your cities in the Old World (or New for that matter) to be taken by either an AI civ or Barbarians. Cities that you conquer yourself also count against this.. You must hold any conquered city.

Bad luck and well played it sounds like you had a great game.

awwww, I thought Mongoose was talking about cities in the new world. I guess I lost the game then since I lost about 5 cities.

Mongoose is a bully!

Yeah, maybe defense will be more key in this game, JUST in case.

Maybe I'll down this one and give it a shot.

I'm having a similar adventure to Bolan's, except that I read the rules, so I approached it a bit more tentatively. I skipped religions altogether, thinking to set up Monte and India to duke it out. Alas, India hated me more... I bribed Monte to help me out, but India has the blasted AP, so that help was over quickly. I cannot really invade India, because of the AP. I'll take a city, and will (or can) be forced to give it back, thus losing my chance of winning. (I don't think it's possible to veto AP decisions, but even if it is, it would just invite a dogpile.)

It will be a dangerous and expensive status quo until the end, I fear. I'm still a bit ahead in techies, but it's a plodding game, compared to my usual pace. If games on prince can be this complex, who needs to look further?
