lol I challenge anyone to come out and say that they never had sex when they were a teen. Those people are few and far between, so the fact that Palin's daughter had a baby or is pregnant is totally irrelevant to me. Teen pregnancy is nothing new, in fact, it was the norm not too long ago. As Barak put it, it has nothing to do with the campaign and I am glad he said so.

Sorry Cleo but I can say it.  I also know a lot of people who can say the same thing.  I also disagree that teen pregnancy was "the norm" not too long ago.  When I was in school at least, the amount of girls I knew of that were pregnant could be counted on one hand.  That said, I think Palin's family business is not our business.

LC, could you point to the lie that Liberman said.  Not trying to trap you, just want to know what you think he lied about.

Fred Thompson.  It's funny because the clips I heard gave me the opposite impression.  I haven't heard the whole thing so if you could dig up the speech for me that would be great .

I'll get on to all that other stuff later, but first, now, this is too funny:

Hot Mic Catches GOP Strategists Trashing Palin Pick

Here is the full transcript from The Atlantic:

The full transcript:

Murphy: ...because I come out of a blue swing-state governor world. Engler. Whitman. Tommy Thompson. Mitt Romney. Jeb Bush. And I mean, and these guys, this is all like how you win a Texas race, just run it up. And, IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK.

Noonan: IT'S OVER.

Murphy: Still, McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech and do himself some good

Chuck Todd. [Unintelligible]... think the Palin pick is insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson?

Noonan: ...saw Kay this morning.

Todd: [sounds like 'she's not comfortable talking about it????]

Murphy: They're ALL bummed out

Todd: Is she really the most qualified woman?

Noonan: Most qualified? NO. I think they went for this, excuse me, political bullshit about narratives.

Todd: yeah, they went to narratives.

Murphy: I totally agree.

Noonan: Every time Republicans do this, because that's not where they live, and that's not what they're good at, they blow it.

Murphy: You know what's really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is "no cynicism" and this is cynical.

Todd: And as you called it, "gimmicky"

And as you called it, "gimmicky"

Yes, but given how "gimicky" his opponent is, it just might work.

Fight fire with fire after all. If there are loads of flluff-brained liberals who will fall for Obama's narrative gimmicks, then maybe there is a sufficient margin of Hillary liberals who will fall for McCain and Palin's narrative gimmicks.

You see that is the beauty of stooping down into the gutter to play stupid games, you never know when your opponent just might be able to stoop even lower and scoop up even more putrid muck than you can imagine based on your fingernails just scraping the crusted over upper surface of the truly deep muck.

If it is a "rough" game Mr. Barack wants to play, I cannot imagine a worse prospective opponent to pick than a former naval aviator, who spent years as a POW in North Vietnam being tortured, and did NOT become a washed out bum, but instead went on to become a superstar American politician for a couple decades. I think Osama will have his hands full this next couple months, whether he is The One or not!

I sure as heck wouldn't want to face off against McCain in a contest of wits and willpower!!

Giuliani, Mitt and Huckabee sure did tear the roof off that building.

I especially loved Guiliani's speech.

"Palin received more votes for governor than Biden received running for President."

^ That was priceless.

Fred Thompson's speech:

part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

I don't quite get what you think is so abominable about his speech.  I'm sure those on the other side may be crying foul but I thought it was pretty good, especially the middle part.

All I've got to say is that McCain has led a perfect strategy in the national campaign thus far.  Think about it.  He rattles Obama a month before the convention a bit.  Obama's camp gets nervous and starts hitting back.  They lose their nerve a bit, which just makes Obama seem like any other politician and he ends up picking a less than stellar VP candidate.  They try rattling McCain during their convention but his camp remains pretty silent until the last night when McCain congradulates Obama's achievement and the very next morning before the presses have cooled, completely steal's the spotlight by picking Palin.  The base is energized (which means support/money/people actually coming out to vote for him) like it hasn't been for a long time.  He's gotta know some of these little things like her daughter's pregnancy would come out which will only act as bait to lure the press away from 24 hour Obama coverage.  Little does the press know, but most of the nation just sees her as more human and likeable and then the Palin speech, which just may surpass Obama's in viewership... hold on, I haven't got that far yet .  It's like he's playing right into McCain's hands!

The point is, McCain has got this far based purely on good strategy and true grit.  Both are key characteristics we should want in our president.  I really do not mean any disrespect towards Obama but McCain is in a completely different league than he is.  Maybe Obama will come back in 15 or 20 years and be a good candidate but I just do not see how one can see that he is at this point in time.
