It may be 90 percent at least, but is that drastically, or significantly higher than the percentage of blacks that supported Kerry, Gore, Clinton, and so on? I am sure it as percentage points higher, but it's in the same ball park. The key is not the percentage but the turn out. I'd hazard a guess you'll be seeing a much higher African American turnout in this election than in years past. Needless to say, Mississippi is going to be a hell of a lot closer than it was 4 years ago!

I think most of the same people who vote Dem/Rep are voting the same as usual regardless of race.

You're missing the point though...  would saying the opposite be 'racist?'

2nd of all, the earlier article that talked about the % of whites voting for McCain and saying NOTHING of the % of African American voting for Obama... isn't that also because of that same double-standard?  Why mention one and not the other?  Politically correctness.  Is that incorrect?

I think treating races differently is a silly way to attempt to get some people to stop treating races differently.

Just because he's not the official Republican Party endorsed candidate, doesn't mean you can't still vote for him, Jerm.

...but what would that accomplish...?

There is talk about whites affecting the vote in McCain's favor.  You're right, it's no more racist than saying blacks are going to do the same for Obama.  I think the interest is high on the latter though because you are going to have a record black turnout this year.

It's simply worded differently.  I wish I could find the article but I don't have time.  However, it's where I learned about this:

Bradley Effect

You're right, what would voting for the best candidate accomplish? Hmm....

Absolutely nothing if he's not even on the ballot and he's not even in the race. It is the exact same thing as not voting, other than making you feel good. Are you being serious...?

Isn't that the same mentality as someone who doesn't vote and says, "Yeah.. as if my vote will make any difference." But, add a few million people doing the same thing and thats a different matter.

If you will only vote the 2 primary party guys no matter what, then there is no point and you're right. But if enough people did the same, it would make a difference.

If Romney were running as a third party your argument would have merrit. He's not even running! A "few million people" aren't just going to magically decide to write in Romney or Paul or whoever if there is no campaign to let people know that he is running. You might as well vote for Mickey Mouse... I'm just being realistic. What is wrong with that?

err. Nothing is wrong with that. You sound a tad touchy today, my friend, in this thread and another.

If his name isn't on the ballot, you still CAN vote for someone, write them in, and they could theoretically still be elected President, but yeah, it is realistic to think it won't do any good. But with proper numbers, it could.
