That puts me over the edge.  I'd never vote for someone endorsed by Napoleon .

What if were talking about false hope?

I was driving home from the college when I heard McCain changed his position to support off-shore drilling (which is great in my book). I also believe all the democrats attacking him for his new position are going to find it'll come back and bite them. People are getting sick of paying $4.00+ (US) on gas.

Yes, I agree. I remember when we lived in SoCal and my dad and I would go on these chartered offshore fishing expeditions, and there would be oil derricks all over the place out there. Keep 'em coming I say.

Although I do think the environmentalists do have a legitimate criticism of the plan.

Controversy over offshore drilling first surfaced in the United States in 1969, after a crack in the sea floor led to a huge oil spill off Santa Barbara, California.

Ok, so maybe offshore drilling near major faultlines is not such a good idea, And maybe areas prone to devastating hurricanes might not be so wise either, like the gulf coast and southern east coast, but what of the northern east coast and west coast? Clearly you do not want to just engage in offshore drilling every which where, but an out and out ban? Lets use some prudence here.

McCain wants to lift ban on offshore drilling

But did you hear what he also said about ANWR?

McCain does oppose drilling in some parts of the wilderness and says those areas must be left undisturbed.

"When America set aside the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, we called it a 'refuge' for a reason," he said.

Amen, brotha, amen!!!!!

When I was at college today I noticed a teacher playing Civ. I will vote for the first candidate who makes civ playing in school part of the required curriculum!!

McCain has a point with offshore rigs ... you all know by now that China is drilling just off Baha and Cuba has a rig a long T shot from the Florida Keys ... if there are going to be rigs there in spite of our self imposed ban perhaps it is time for us to take a long look at our own stupidity ... and get in the game.

Not excavating your own resources, while paying everyone with fiat money for theirs is not a bad strategy.

As for McCain, I am preying every night for his victory. Since God is with me, I am sure he'll listen

"I emphasized to him how encouraged I was by the reductions in violence in Iraq, but also insisted that it is important for us to begin the process of withdrawing U.S. troops, making clear that we have no interest in permanent bases in Iraq," Obama said.

"I gave [Zebari] an assurance that should we be elected, an Obama administration will make sure that we continue with the progress that's been made in Iraq, that we won't act precipitously," he said.

A politically mixed message if I ever saw one.

Obama to visit Iraq, says he's firm on troop withdrawal plans

Zebari is the Iraqi Foreign Minister. While he is clear that he desires to begin the process of troop withdrawl, it is also apparent that there is a fair amount of subtlety in his final statement there, one that the leftist anti war crowd would not be too fond of.
