Hmm, well, did Obama run his campaign or did Axelrod, or the economy or... for that matter GWB?  Also, running a country is not the same at all to running a corporation.  Obama certainly has a gift for speaking well and given the current circumstances and the general sentiment out there, it pushed him over the edge.  Will this translate into a great president?  If he can deliver half as well as he speaks, perhaps.  Unfortunately delivering on campaign promises is not something politicians tend to do.

As to whether a lack luster campaign would translate into a lackluster presidency, perhaps it is fair but it's academic and I'm kind of over the election now and ready to move on .  Let it go, you won .

Getting elected and peforming well in office are only remotely correlated; as shown by how awesome America thought Bush was in 2000 and 2004 and how crappy he smells now.

Alrighty, one more post in this thread and I'm done... at least with election related discussions... though there still is the Norm Coleman/Al Franken recount so you never know but all I got to say is... 61 pages?  WOW!  Is this the longest P&R thread?  the So.. thread is still only in the 40's.  This thread also started in July.  That's like three months!

In four years it may be fun to revisit this thread just to compare it to today.  Anyway, everyone should read the first few pages.  It turned out pretty much the way we thought it did .  It's been fun, can someone lock this thread up ?

Pretty sure some of the past threads about the Iraq War, Islamofascism, etc., got up above 100 pages of posts. True it was over a much longer span of time.

ADDIT: Waitaminute. Looks like my memory was off. The Israeli Warplanes Attack Beirut thread must be the one I was thinking of, and it only went for 30 pages. About HALF what this election thread went for!

Looks like we have a new record that even beats the "So . . ." thread with ~43 pages.

The long Israel+West vs Islamofascism thread is actually in third place. Just look in the P&R main page, and sort it by number of replies

I am so glad the elections are over. The visitor stats on my blog dropped dramatically as the elections neared and only yesterday I have recovered to normal address.
